Automated rifle.. here I come

i'd be careful, the navy already has a railgun project in the works, attempted to mount them on a new class of battleship....didn't go as planned though. just to paint a clear picture, they decided to scale it down to this instead for the new ddx class destoryers, so hopefully it works.

id have implimented them as less of a bombardment weapon and more of a direct fire weapon myself, but it all looks shiny

I'll tell you what good having an AK 47 in my house would be... If any nutjob came up to my door with their hand on a ripcord yelling 'jihad' i could shoot them with 30 tiny shiny chunks of metal in 5 seconds, thereby lessening the chance that they will pull the cord and blow stuff i value (like me) up.

i would more rather go down fora few year for beating the shit outta a burglar,then murder,shooting him would be murder,in its own right,cos nowadays(sadly) they have rights too

in texas if you shoot someone breaking into your house, its considered good ettiquette to rob THEM.

but yeah, if they pose a threat, then reasonable force should be used, if they gonna shoot you, then i think its fair enough to shoot them

generally if you kill someone breaking into your house, it's self defence

if you beat someone to death in your house it's not self defence, becuase you beat them to death long after they could no longer attack you

isn't a rail gun really similar to a Gauss Rifle (e using magnetism to fire the round) doesn't that not mean a carbon slug wouldn't work ?

maybe if a portion of the slug were metal, enough for the gun to work, then you could do whatever you wanted with it

kinda like a misile, you could put whatever kind of a head you wanted to on it, but the rest would need to be whatever metal the gun uses to fire
