But I also have a theory.

slipping a chick the lead role, especially a badass role, and they'll like the game anyway.
some maybe for different reasons, but many others will be able to appreciate the game just the same with the added bonus points for having a badass woman at the center of attention.
not only that. but if done right, youre female gamers get a kick out if too.
if done right its a win win situation I think. problem is nobody wants to do it right.

we always get big breasts, gratuitus butt shots, and skimpy or form fitting clothing.

Primal is one of the few games i think breaks it clean.
She's actually on a mission to rescue her boyfriend.

totally flips the classic boy saving his girlfriend story.

Xenosaga has female lead characters which is an rpg.

it's rare to get female gamers, I not saying they are a bad thing, I have nothing against this infact I'm all for it. But a lot of guys make games as well. Look at yourself as an example your first attempt had a male lead. It wasn't till biddy that you began to think about a female lead and through that other female leads.

it's harder for me to understand how a women reacts because I'm not one. It's easier for me to emphasis with a male character because I'm am one. I'm not saying it's impossible to have a female lead jsut less common because when you create stuff you rarely do so in third person, well atleast in my experiance you don't.

I understand your point that game makers like Amy Henning made LOK an all male lead game series why is hte not more of the reverse, I dunno.

I just bought a $10 game that sucks.

none of the characters have a personality or even a character history.

but their is one that I like anyway.

i know you've got this 'anti fighting game' thing, but Ayane and Kasumi (DOA) are definatly leading ladies in the series, and definatly badass

thats it...
