Punk

From those killer tunes that you heard 6 years ago in the back of a mini bus, heading into Utah, or the songs that are on the radio now. This is the place. (No R&B please, because it doesn't exist)

I love this genre especially the old stuff like The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols and The Damned. Thy really broke the ice of cheesy 70's disco music and made it dark with songs that really do smack at you.

I do also like modern punk bands. Like Good Charlotte, Blink 182 (sometimes), Bowling 4 Soup and especially Sum 41.

others are:

Exploding Hearts, Anti-Flag, Epitaph Records, AFI, Bad Religion, The Living End, Distillers, Naked Raygun, Green Day, Stickmen With Rayguns.

Not a huge fan of it.

I like some older stuff like Siouxsie and the Banshees and (older) Cure, but that's about it.

1. Old skool punk rocks.
2. Add Ramones to that list.
3. New punk isn't punk. It's crap.
4. Siouxie and The Banshees and The Cure are excellent bands. But they're not punk.

they aren't REALLY classed as punk which is why I didn't mention them.......they took punk to a different level.

Though Cure is classed as punk

the cure have such an unique sound. they are leaning much more towards pop than they are towards punk.

Older Cure is more on the punk side.

Same with Siouxsie. When punk died out, gothic rock emerged, and both bands began to lean towards that genre more.

I like old punk, but the newer mainstream stuff just doesn't have the same angst, so I consider it just rock music. I like it, but it's not really punk.

I love the cure, but never considered them punk, i considered them kinda a sidestream of rock... not really anything. I kind figured thats what they were going for, something different thats not really anything mainstream. Thats what I really liked about them anyways.

of course I'm weird and like everthing from Norah Jones to Blink 182 to The Cure to Black Sabbath. I look at it as, if they put effort into it, and they like there music, I can give it a chance too. I used to be all into the "oh there sooo not punk, therefore they don't deserve to live" but it's pointless. As long as there not like Avril Levign (don't even get me started) Then I'll give 'em a chance.

Punk's great... So called 'Nu-Punk' is just crap, fake stuff. The Cure, Distillers, Sex Pistols, Black Flag... They were awesome.
