Theirs characters like cass in the batman mythos that will never seen any silver screen time because directors are afraid to really take it on the foundation that comes before and address the sidekick issue.

(Though technically the Bat-girl role is not, nor has it ever been a sidekick position. In initial story lines Bruce had no idea who she was, and she has since started her own team "Birds of Prey" which the Bat-girl moniker belongs to.)

It could also be that getting there would either take too many films, or that moving ahead that far would just confuse the general public. (but if you got Mik here, talking Lazarus pits it might be ok, Mik gained a level)

My problem extends beyond that, in Wiki anything that interests me on that page that has it's own entry or sounds to me like a further line of research, I open that in a new window and read it after. Of course, there is then stuff there that I have to look up.

Similar thing with Tvtropes.
