Dedicated Serverness

Post by Mik » Sun Jul 04, 2010 3:54 pm

Over the next month or two,

I'm gonna try and convince my boss to go for a dedicated server for website hosting at work, as I think we'll cane the shit out of our 'unlimited bandwidth' hosting service, in the run up to Christmas, considering it fell over more than a drunk last year.

The convincing part should be easy, but I'll prolly have to run it too and in that aspect I'm fucking clueless not even sure who a good hosting service is, as our current host (who also offer dedicated servers) is patchy at best.

I've been told more than once that, the horrible web control panel aside, 1&1 are pretty good, especially for the price. The guys we use for work are very expensive. For personal stuff, I just host it right here. :P

Is your site really that busy though? I wouldn't have thought you'd need a dedicated server.

In the end I went with Tagadab, it's been very reliable, I've only had to restart it like once in a year.
