ok check it...

Got a laptop,
display just died on me.

plugged in a monitor to use as an external display.

it works..but only as an extension.

Ive tried the function + F4 (display thingy) keys. and the monitor blinks, but it never displays anything i need on the screen, and still remains an extension of the desktop rather than the main one.

I tried opening up the properties window....but guess which screen its opening on?

any ideas?

After opening properties, hit ALT+SPACE and then M. Then use the arrow keys to move the window to where you can see it.

i remember thinking that would never be useful a few years ago.
