yeah, I often hear stories of people not being able to just 'let go.'
I saw the game play video for 3 recently
I'm amazed at how spot on everything looks, and even more so at how well its carried over into a fully 3d platform.
even the sound of it feels genuine.
the music is dead on.
I hadn't realized just how memorable the game's sound effects were till I heard them in the new game.

I dunno if I would call WoW shitting over everything. WC3 was a solid game, sadly perhaps the best RTS in the last 5 years, shit most since then have just been reskinned WC3's (Dawn of War etc).
With WoW they have made a solid MMO, that hands down won the 2nd generation MMO war. Hell, the won soo hardcore they redefined 'successful' preWoW 100,000 subs was a super successful title, now you don't get alteast that amount your sunk.
I may not agree with them alot the time but you gonna give them the beneft of the doubt imo.

i agree with Mik here, WC3 was pretty much one of the best rts i've played for a long time and i rather stick with that than most rtcs which came out. I liked all the warcraft games.
And wow ... well as Mik said it won the mmo war, and its still going strong and i cant name another mmo which is have the success its having. And i think it will keep going strong. The player count speaks for it self really. Myself have stopped playin it. But i did enjoy it.

I dont think I've played any MMO that I could stick with for very long.
I think what I'm looking for in an mmo either just generally overlooked, or either generally unwanted by the rest of the world.
but to me the best mmorpg would be one where the grinding process didnt matter much for character growth.
in fact its a terribly old method, and Id like to see something new altogether.
grinding should be used purely to hunting loot, or for quest purposes.
it should not have a direct effect on govern character growth.
indirect or supplemental effects I would be fine with.

I dont like stat points.
they feel like such a lie.
id like them only of the game provided you with no class stucture and you built your own though the stat points.
but in a game where you already have a class that has weaknesses/strengths.
stat points seem to effect fuck all. and to get anywhere you have to use the certain way.

I agree with Johnny on stat points, in most cases you have to put them in a certain way anyway else you suck. But there are the odd times when you can create a different style of character using them, like in ROSE, if you make the priest style class and give it loads of agility or dexterity I think, it can be quite a formidable melee class even though it wasn't designed that way.
The thing about WOW is the community that makes it restrictive. If you don't have certain equipment or a certain talent spec and try to join a group, apparently you suck and so does your mother.

The Internet Hates Diablo III
I hated community restrictions in FF11
the game allowed you to pair any two job classes. but the community did not.
