OK.

this is going the way of 3d.
for several reasons
1. I suck a hand drawn sequential work
2. Its simpler to do
3. I'm going to use is to learn Blender. (my god)

Still got some work to do on the model, mostly in the face area.
I pretty much used the models from broken tools to make this one.
lots of mods tho. (that project is what pissed me off in the first place actually)

I'll probably be texturing what I can the rest of the nite.
simple textures tho. no photoreal crap.

when all thats done, the .obj goes into blender.
and then, still in blender, I plan to rig, animate, and render.

overall direction of the project might change a little.
its been awhile since I've been at it, and nothings fresh in my mind. (and curiously I cant find any notes on it.)

I think most things I described in earlier posts are still valid for the most part.

edit:
I dunno If i mentioned it before. but the stick you see him pictured with in most of the shots... its the greatest weapon in the universe.
(a tree branch)

I Haven't even started texture yet.
I want things to be solid as can be before I do.

I dunno how obvious it is, but I've completely reworked the face.
It flows better, offers a bit more shape, and it should animate a hell of a lot better too.
I've also added the inner parts of the mouth, (teeth, tongue, throat etc) and joined the ear.

I gave some attention to the shape of the upper body, so it comes off a bit smoother now, especially in the arms. The forearms have been adjusted.(they were turned in such a way that didn't make any sense with the wrist position of the wrists)

Did some minor pants tweaks. mostly in the crotch area, but you cant see them because of the overall flap. When animated the flap would move around though.

I'm still not 100% sure I'm done with the model just yet.

I may see if theirs much else I can do with the hands. theirs nothing wrong with them, I'm just wondering if I might be able to do them better. Of course working the hands means I'd have to rework the gloves and rings as well.

I also want to see if I can come up with a more efficient way of modeling the half-afro. As it stands now, it would take forever to texture that thing.

I may carve out some calf muscles, but I'm not sure if they're needed.

I've gotten a bit more familiar with Blender.
Not enough to make things in it yet, but I've found the buttons and methods I use most in XSI, and setup some preferences that make me feel more at home.

Maybe I'll be done by the end of the week.
I cant do too much tomorrow.

Before I'm done with the XSI phase I'll put a cheap rig on it, and take a few action poses.

I used the joker head I made yesterday as a starting point, and started building out my Aliens.

Image

Ive gotten used to associating them with tarantulas.
was listening to some DnB music, and got Tarantula (pendulum) stuck in my head and giving me a good flow.

but they really dont have any relation to spiders at all.
cept for this helmet I made...

Image

when complete the standard alien should stand about 8-9ft tall.
(the hero is 6ft tall)

Image

so far I intend for there to be 3 aliens
a purple brutish one. (standard)
an orange geeky one. (the only one that'll wear the spider helmet)
and a green one. im not sure what his personality would be like. but I want him to wear some kind of space suit.

I decided that they can only speak english only by eating an english speaking persons head, after that they take on that persons speech patterns and vocabulary.

one of them will have to eat a cockney brit.

Then they'll speak french.
but that would make the videos harder to do.

of course their is the possibility of one of them eating a dog.

I might have to add to their clothing a bit more than I thought.

I thought about that.
I agree too.

Maybe its cuzz they weae clothes.

Short of multiple limbs and reverse joints though I cant come up with much that seems original enough.

At one point I was going to add a tail to the back. but then I thought. "hey that's just the Abuse"

I am considering making them lizard/dragon like with the textures.

Theirs no convincing me that tentacles are the way to go.

Even giving them one less or one more finger on each hand could make a difference. I think it was the hands I noticed first.
