They made one of my favourite characters into..... a new manipulating evil creature.

Still reading Conan.

Its starting to look like rather than a solid series...Conan is more of a platform to try out new things and ideas, without having to make up new characters or worlds.

the whole thing so far is really inconsistent. even the lead character changes personalities a bit from from story to story. in some stories he's very smart, in some he's very dumb, in some he's very humble, in some he's very cocky, in some hes very political, in some he lusts for blood....its always different.

in the end I think its going to lead me to believe that the Movies and everything after that were "bastardized" from the source are actually a good thing.

it started out good,

toward the middle it was obvious it wasn't going to be what i had expected. but it was enough to stick with.

but the ending...which was pretty much an explanation of all the events in the book was horrible.

it felt thrown on.
it leaves the realm of reality it established and started in, then all out once ditches it in favor of some ridiculous fantasy that gets forced on.

If anybody knows their comics, "House of M" should sum it up nicely.

Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's one of the better books I've read lately. I liked Norwegian Wood last year when I read it by the same author.

Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. It's very good. It's not the sort of book I'd normally read but at the same time, I can't imagine anyone except fellow geeks would like it much. I haven't read any since coming back from the honeymoon but I really want to dig in again soon.

It's set partially in the mid 90s and partially during WW2. Since my history and east Asian geography isn't that great, it's also hard to tell what's fact and what's fiction, which is interesting.

Oh yeah and it mentions Linux but calls it Finux. It mentions Windows 95 too.

Final Friends 1: The Party by Christopher Pike

First book of a trilogy. Pike's books seem to be all the same. Boring. Am gonna read the next two books though.

Just finished watchmen.

Might start Sandman.

Fear Nothing - Dean Koontz

I haven't read much from Koontz since I was more focused on Stephen King's Cell, Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, and World of Warcraft to really take the cake. But so far, I'm enjoying the book a quarter of the way through as he sets the scenario and unfolds the plot with interaction from other characters.

I really enjoyed his book 'Intensity', which had it's end-chapter epic holds and a few odd moments. ( Lawl, the main character sniffing the odd-smelling air outside, and tastes a drop of rain, comparing it to the taste of semen. ) But overall he's a lot like King, but doesn't string out his settings like Stephen tends to do, though I personally enjoyed stuff he did like that since it made me care for his character's situations much more. ( I.E. - The Stand, Uncut edition. \m/ )

But yeah! Sorry for the ramble -- Good book this far.

Do those Xmen Essentials giant graphic novels count? If so, I'm reading the first one at the moment.

Just finished reading Age of Misrule by Mark Chadbourn, fuckin fantastic book, definately worth picking up, and now im back onto reading double eagle, for like, the millionth time.
