If I was the kind of person to do such a thing, I could point you towards a torrent that contains it in rtf format.

The waterborn - greg Keyes.

Was actually a much better book than I thought it was going to be. I actually want to read the sequel to it. Which is odd because everyone is raving about his newer work but i'm finding them a little slow going in places.

Man Who Laughs
graphic novel

Wrtten by Victor Hugo
Illustrated by Fernando de Felipe

Awsome.

I'd heard of it before and how it had some part in the original of Batman's Joker, so I was pretty excited when I found out it would be the bonus book that came with my HM subscription.

Ofcourse after 6 to 8 weeks you tend to forget things, So I was re-surprised when it was on the front porch yesterday.

Awsome.

The style of the artwork istelf isnt one I'm too fond of, but its not distractiong or anything. however the way Fernando lays out a scene is just fucking brilliant.

They story itself is pretty good. one of those almost predictable classics, but still great. it almost feels like its a fable. like one of those stories everybody should know by heart when theyre about 8 years old. but its probably too dark for that.

might have to pick up the the actual novel. and the 1923 silent film.

i remember hearing about that... didn't it have something to do with a clown?

If it's what i'm thinking of, it must be good, because i saw something about it on TV, and you just don't get modern TV talking about silent movies that are crap.

Starlight #1 The Road to Crime is Paved With Lead
Graphic Novel

script: Giovanni Gualdoni
art: Alberto Ponticelli
color: Davide Turotti

its a cool little comic set in about 2300.

It might be a little tough to get a hold of.
but its in the sept 2006 issue of Heavy Metal
which also may be tough to get a hold of by now

Its like cowboy beebop had a child with pulp fiction, and the child grew up to be a nuaghty freak.

I cant wait for # 2

that one might not be so bad, but i've heard the other books he wrote suck.

Could be confused about that though,

Oh, and i just finished Everything's Eventual (thank you Lesley) and i gotta say, King lost his touch. The book wasn't horrible, but i didn't exactly enjoy it the way i enjoyed his other stuff. He's just lost something that i can't put my finger on.

God Killer
Graphic Novel

by: Benoit Delepine and Stan & Vince

This one is also set in the future.
however its the near future.

everything is so drasticly different and the technology is so far beyond what we have.
however...the book is only set about 30 years from now.
so thats my first gripe. but i could let that slide.

the story itself i didnt really get into.

its about an ex-priest. (christian)
EX as in both excomunicated and not being a preiest any more.
so anyway, the guy is suspected of pesophilia, and he's a crackhead.

He's the lead role, and its his job to investigate the dissapearance of some wealthy buisnessmans son.

His search, leads him on the trail of a serieal killer who is killing all the potential messiahs of each and every faith.
each faith seems to have its very own section of the city.

I gotta say I didnt particularly like it.
it was illustrated well...very well infact. But it just seemed like they tried to pile every character flaw they could into this priest guy and neglected to give him a single redeeming quality.

Normally thats somthing I would appluad, but most of it seemed intent on filling a stereo type.

like this a part, from when he meets an old friend for information....while they both snort.

"I explained the whole story. When we were teens, we babysat chiorboys together..."
"So, how could I possibly hide anything from a guy who knew my asshole inside and out"

come on?
wtf?

it might be intersting to sombody else.
but to me stirrling a whole bunch of taboo subjects into a single pot makes it all spice and no flavor.

Magika #3
Graphic Novel

by: Tacito, Angleraud, and Guenet

Granted I did come into thats at number 3....
but this book sucks.

Tries way to hard.
and as such. lots of its themes and its dialogue just come off forced.

the lead horine has no personality becuase of this and the lead villian "Lord New Jesus (aka Martin)" us evil simply becuase he is.

The artwork is is fine, its pretty good actually, but its no where near "stunning"

but anyway it seems like Lord New Jesus (damn thats a fun name...but obviously forced) is getting to gether an army composed of evil people thought out history.
and while they illustrate them as being very very many...

they only focus on two

Hitler
who in my opinion they over focus on. he's just kinda there...taking up page space with over dramatic artwork.
he doesnt asctually DO anything.

Vlad Tepes
Dracula, is this books only redeeming quality so far. he's resurrected by the villian to be a villian becuase he was one of the best.

he's the only guy in the book with a personality.
as he decides he doesnt even want to take part of this whole "lets start an apocalypse thing" and the only thing that drives him to do it anyway, are the lives of his (also ressurected) son and daughter.

however, even as cool as Dracula is...
he couldnt save this book from being crap.

I dont feel like I'm missing much to go and seek out #1 and #2.
and I'm definatly not anticipation #4

here's a scan anyway tho...

Haven't posted in a while... but i read

Empress Orchid by Anchee Min, i've been reading a couple of books about the last few dynasties of China... just sort of interested about the wierdness that it was. Well it wasn't all wierd. This book isn't a good indication of it anyway.

The following books by Sean Williams
Books of the Cataclysm 1-3 (The crooked letter, the blood debt and The hanging mountains)
Books of the change (1-2...because my library didn't have the third :( - The stonemage and the sea, the skywarden and the sun)

... Sean williams isn't UP UP there in my favourite authors... but he's something to read when i can't sleep. I have't been able to find a character that i like that i've clung onto which has made me want to read it from cover to cover. The Crooked letter.... was nearly the most confusing and disjointed out of wierdness just... crap i have ever read. It wanted to be so intelligent and innovating but nearly pushed the envelope to far. I'm going to have to read it again in order to make proper sense of the realms and history. It's almost like he tried to throw the history of an entire world in one volume. way to confusing.

Currently reading : The embers of heaven - Alma Alexander

EMISSARY IS OUT!!!! Now to get my greedy mits on it. MWHAHAHAHAHA
