Sorry about the recent downtime. The server's ISP, Newtel, completely fell over and they don't work at the weekend. Shit, I know, but I'm not the one who pays for them.

Aargh! I hate Jersey Telecom!! They fried our router AGAIN because of electrical surge that got sent down the line. I'm now having to set up a new router from scratch. Richard is so fed up, he's instructed me to get us a proper host. I'm really sad that it's come to this, the server has performed wonderfully over the past couple of years but the ISP is so fucking useless that it counts for shit.

Yeah. I'll try and make it a smooth transition.

I have a webserver you know... not that I actively promote my hosting anymore, but before you go out and spend gobs of cash, speak to me.

There was one of the electrical socket but not one on the phone line.

I might just do that, Jiere. I'm half thinking about keeping a machine here but even if it would be a lot more reliable than keeping it in Jersey, I think Richard wants to do things properly this time.

Well, no disrespect, James: This server is shite, it's always down for one reason or anotherand of course the guy wants to do it properly. He doesn't want an ancient computer sat in Jersey holding back his website. You, also, don't want to rely on one in your apartment, either. The upload rates in the UK are crippling.

I'd see your friend and it'll guarantee no/very little downtime.

Matt, didn't you read what I said? This server's uptime has been fantastic for an amateur job, it was often up for months at a time. It was the ISP that kept cutting us off. The only other reason it's been down recently is because Richard himself was moving it. The server used to be kept in his own house and now it's kept in his office. And despite only being an Athlon 1200 XP, it's been more than fast enough.
