Actually I misread Ryan's post, I thought he said there are more people in the US than Canada and that Canada uses our system. My point still stands though. Rest of the world > US + Canada.

Hehe, I was talking about ENGLISH SPEAKING POPULATION. In that case, there are more people Speaking English in the USA than the UK . . . but what about India and the Phillipines? They speak English too. SO, once we deduce what system THEY use, the debate will be solved (somebody find out if India uses that calendar system please?)

Hahaha! From Wikipedia...
dd/mm/yyyy (day, month, year)
Using the dd/mm/yyyy format, the 30th of December 2006 would be written as 30/12/2006.

The dd/mm/yyyy format is used by:
  • Albania
  • Argentina
  • Australia (d.m.yyyy, i.e. punctuated with full stops, is commonly used in Australia)
  • Bangladesh
  • Barbados
  • Belgium
  • Belarus
  • Belize
  • Bolivia
  • Brazil
  • Bulgaria (dd.mm.yyyy)
  • Canada (All 3 main types are used in Canada- in French and in English)
  • Chile
  • Colombia
  • Croatia (d.m.yyyy.)
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic (d.m.yyyy)
  • Denmark (often in the fraction form d/m-y otherwise dd-mm-yyyy or dd-mm-yy)
  • Dominica
  • Dominican Republic
  • Ecuador
  • El Salvador
  • Estonia
  • Finland (d.m.y)
  • France
  • Germany (using dots as in "d.m.(yy)yy", but most often "d. month (yy)yy")
  • Grenada
  • Greece
  • Guyana
  • Hong Kong (in English)
  • Iceland
  • Iran
  • Ireland
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Jamaica
  • Kenya
  • Latvia (dd.mm.yyyy is used more often, but official standard is year-month-day)
  • Macau (in Portuguese & English)
  • Malaysia
  • Mexico
  • Montenegro (d.m.yyyy.)
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway (d.m.y; the fraction form d/m-y is common, but incorrect)
  • Pakistan
  • Paraguay
  • Peru
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Russia
  • Saint Kitts and Nevis
  • Saint Lucia
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Serbia (d.m.yyyy)
  • Slovakia (d.m.yyyy)
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Singapore
  • Sweden (in the fraction form d/m-y, otherwise yyyy-mm-dd)
  • Switzerland (dd.mm.yyyy)
  • Thailand (with Buddhist Era instead of Common Era)
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Turkey
  • Ukraine (dd.mm.yyyy)
  • United Kingdom
  • Uruguay
  • Venezuela
m/d/yy (month, day, year)
Using the m/d/yy format, the 30th of December 2006 would be written as 12/30/06. Note that leading zeroes in the month and day are often dropped; for example, the 1st of April 2006 would often be written as 4/1/06.

The m/d/yy format is used by:
  • Canada (Although most official documents use the yyyy-mm-dd format, the m/d/yy format is also understood due to influences from the United States.)
  • Federated States of Micronesia
  • Palau
  • Philippines (formerly d/m/yy. May still be found in certain contexts)
  • United States (Although Independence Day is often referred to as "the Fourth of July.")
A few countries, such as Japan, used yyyy/mm/dd, which I think is the most intelligent of the three because as I said above, the natural sorting order matches the chronological order.

The only thing confusing in Japan about their system here is that they use a numbering system based on who is currently emperor still. It's the 19th year into the Hesei period right now . . . I was born in the 67th year of the SHowa period or something here ... confusing.

well considering we are in the year 2007 After the Death of christ which may or not be accurate I'd say they have something with the whole emperor based system.

watches as the whole thread gets debunked
oh well.

I don't get how saying March First, makes sense. I mean are you talking about soldiers marching first or something else entirely. Saying First of March two thousand and seven may take longer but it's got more clarity.

I also have issues with how you guys tell the time. Or maybe it's just how Ben tells the time, i don't know.

heh, what I meant was two atomic clocks on two sides of the planet will run out of sync, a emperor dies new one is 'crowned' ? start again less chance for inaccuracy.
