why do males call us lass?

It's the Irn Bru (or whatever that toxic stuff is) it makes them act funny and use terms like Lass.

I would like you to know that not all non-american's use it

It's a scottish thing mainly although it could be a celtic thing, I've heard it alot over here.

I imagine I'll be saying it a lot from now on but then again, I've been told off for saying it because it doesn't sound right coming from me!

Yes, but just about all Americans (with the exception of english immigrants) wouldn't be caught dead saying that

Lass is just one of many of their word quirks. You get used to them after a while and don't even realise they are there anymore, they just register.

so does hot babe, or sexy bitch....but the second one tends to get a slap more often than not. there's alot of variations though that are used here in the states and most aren't as ridiculous as lass...however i believe some are more sexually degrading. but hey, every culture has it's ups and downs.
