Okey, I want to take this fucker apart and figure out if somethings burn up or knocked loose because it won't read my discs anymore and its out of warrenty so why not take it apart? right? right... the only thing is it needs a weird little type socket wrench to open it up... any ideas or knowledge on this?

There's a place near where I live where they fix PS2s for around £20. Never saw anything for a gamecube though. You could look around probably, I doubt you could fix it if you're asking how to open it in the first place.

Console lasers do have a tendency to give up after a while. My PS2's laser is temperamental as hell. I replaced the drive unit thinking that was the problem but it wasn't, it was the laser. The drive unit sadly didn't include a new laser.

Yeah i'm not stupid, it's just you need a special tool to get it open jack ass.

I fixed my fuckin psone so bite me.

and chewi, that really sucks... I think I"m just going to have to buy a new one. I don't think it could handle all the harvest moon and hobbit I was playing.

Seemingly replacement lenses do exist.

But that's assuming that it's the laser that's broken...

$45!!! Fuck that! I'll buy a new one and get the platinum one instead of gay indego....

If I could get it apart I have a theory, cause it sounds like the motor can't get the disk fast enough to read it. And I think the motor has gotten some of my hair and some of my cats hair tangled in it (cause I shead like a dog... its rediculous) and if I could just clean it out it'd be fine... but I don't know until I take it apart. And I can't get it apart because idont' have a tool for it.... so ya know... looks like I'm getting a new one... lol. Thanks tho chewi.

I'd buy a new one too, they're so cheap now.

Now with the knowlege of getting a new one, I suggest a crowbar for the original question.
