MineCraft

Post by Tartan » Tue Feb 08, 2011 1:59 pm

Okay so like many others ive taken a large liking to the on line game Mine craft, its a very simple game with not the most pretty graphics buts its all about digging mining tunnelling, chopping, cutting and creations.
theres a few modes to play on i play on chewis and Echos severs where you can pretty much do anything as chewi puts it u need to think BIG!
I really enjoy playing it it minds me of a simple version of the sims building mode and u have to create the material to build, also theres Creepers (...sssSSSsss...) and other monsters like spiders that have a habit of hunting you down at night and the Creepers explode on you alot too so try not get to attached to your creations!
There is also animals you can hit a few times to get things like wool ect or milk and eggs to regain your health too.
it dont take long to get the hang of either.
what i like best is you can personalise it from the skin of the character and the theme, you can make your own or download one,so far i have been Sailor Moon and Chi from Chobits also i have downloaded a neko one and revamped it to my liking and made it more like a cos-play Hello Kitty version i am rather proud and fond of that ive gone put her into a animé drawing which i will post up soon once chewi scans her in the PC.
shes very Kawaii!

any how its what i have been playing when i get time and think you all should get your asses in gear and play a lil summit get the game and come play with us whom are already on it cos its more fun with more people on the severs!

I've rocked this with my friends in RL and my cousins, currently kicking back on my own home server after building a fortress that takes about two minutes to load when zoning into the server, lol.

If I can get it to go live, I'll throw up the IP and you are all more than welcome to join us.

This is strangely addictive.

Thanks to Dave for giving me a key. Things are very hectic at the moment but rest assured I'll be on the server doing something. At some point.

I'm glad you finally took at least a little time to try it. I'm interested to know what you think. I haven't played it in a long while but I did waste a good deal of time on it around new year, trying to build an elevator. There are many designs around but most don't work reliably under SMP.

It's a brilliant game.
I've played the last few days with Beardy.

The survival aspect got me playing it. But i think more objective based gameplay could keep me playing it.

Nothing complicated.
Just goals to make the work you put in worth it.

Defending against natural disasters, or occasional zombie herds Could be enuff.

Another way could be mission based.
Scribblenuats for example gives you missions or tasks to perform. But leaves it open in how you can complete it.
One mission is "help the old man see"
You can do this by giving him a monocle, of glasses, a telescope, a sniper rifle, or even an extra eyeball.

I think minecraft is capable of this open ended problem solving type of gameplay. And could hold my attention a lot longer if it were to use it as a driving force.

But as is it's probably something I'll just play when I'm short on other games to play.
That said. If it keeps me returning to it. Then it's doing something right.

U should maybe look at adventure maps. Some no bad ones out there. Thats what we gonna start doing on the server when we get multi world set up. We got a creative world where we just build and we gonna try some new addons soon which give us a bigger list of stuff to build. But we are hopefully get a portal which connects to another world and i'll just set up an adventure world which can be easily resetted if they fancy a go.

Plus SMP gotten alot better these days, we havent had any major problems for a long time. I think its cause i took of alot for unneeded mods and cooled down on giving ppl premissions. Plus the updates dont come as much as they did, only the snapshots which we dont install. So mods are pretty much better these days. In all honestly i cant even remember the last time i been pm'd to reset the server and i mind i was doing it a few times a week at one point.
