MWAHAHA!!!!

if it wasn't for the fact that none of my work software will work under WINE or have linux versions at all, I'd be sold.

For now, I'm just using remote desktop to gain access to a pc with windows to run those, some barely noticeable slow down, if anything it might actually be quicker than normal tbh.

the thing to remember about Vader is that he went back in the end.

Blender must be Linux's ugly cousin.

Main one giving me jip is TAS Books.

The rest mostly run off websites these days.

I should get my iPhone to run on Linux. Hmm, Apple would hate me for that though.

Not really iOS is just a really bastardised version of Open BSD for what I hear and iPad seems to run off some debian variant.

Not that you'll ever read that or care, ancient history person.

I still use linux, thought we switched to Mint for the most part, I still use Ubuntu as I have no issues but my machine is about 30 times better than the normal desktops we have so ... yeah.

I swear if they could just get games to work reasonably well without me spending have a night toying with WINE or crossover I'd be sold.

It's more of a developer problem though cause it does work there is just 0 support. I mean I can get World of Warcraft to work on my PC a home, but the frame rate is piss and it's considerably worse for performance, but my girlfriend plays on a Mac, Linux is closer to Mac than windows.

I run Ubuntu at the moment alongside Windows in order to have a working copy of Eclipse + Together Tool as the license was for a specific version and I could only find it on Linux. Eclipse is testy and occasionally closes entirely without warning making me shit myself that my work has gone. I figure out how to get it back but I was ready to call Chewi and give him and ear full about it for no apparent reason.

Eclipse is almost entirely written in Java so it's unlikely to be a platform-specific bug. Are you tied to an old version? If so, it's probably already fixed. I used to be the main Eclipse guy for Gentoo but I got tired of it and switched to Emacs.

I installed beta1 of Ubuntu 12.04 for the in-laws the other day. It's a little buggier than I expected (several random "something broke" pop-ups now and then) but it's quite usable for a beta. Father-in-law went apeshit partially due to the initial shock and partially due to connection issues that cropped up after I left (seemingly the router's fault) but they seem happy now.

I have other big news but can't say owt just yet.

I wish it was. Johnny refers to the fact that I applied for a job at Square Enix. After pestering the recruiter a second time, I never did hear back and left it at that. It was a very long shot because I was only offering to work remotely.

Fuck it, I might as well tell you the rest. I would have called again but something else grabbed my attention. I got an unexpected call from Google. Yeah. No shit. Three phone interviews in and they haven't shown me the door yet. I gather I have one more phone interview and a face-to-face left to go. Wish me luck.
