Do you use a wheel?
I know a guy who is serious about racing games and swears by the wheel controller.

Nah. It's been a very long time since I used a wheel and that was only ever at friends' houses. I did like it but I'm not bothered enough to buy one. Hell, I'm only about to start driving for real in a couple of weeks.

I take it you were watching using someone else's copy because you don't seem to have the game.

Oh, no.
Xbox is great for stalking people.

When your friends are online you can usually see lots of info about what they're doing in game just by looking at their gamer card.

Somthing like this:

game name
info about character
verb in/on locaton/event

it's not that strict.
But say you were playing ff7
it might say:

final fantasy 7
lv.34 wearing a dress
sneaking into honeybee inn

Oooh right. Can be quite misleading with Blur then, you can go from first to last in a matter of seconds.

what sets Blur apart?
I'm sure its a little different than the average, but I'm wondering if its different enough.

Oh and do you like racing games in general? and if so can you explain why?

Racing games generally aren't my type of game,
but I have an idea for a racing game myself that I think could appealing both people who usually do like racing games and people who usually don't.

Most people say that Blur is like Mario Kart for grown ups and the game's ad is partly to blame for that. It's so much more than that, though. It's a very pretty game but it's not just about style, there's a lot more substance in there too. It plays really fucking well.

In Mario Kart, there's not enough skill involved. If you're attacked with a Blue Shell, there's fuck all you can do about it except drop back to second place, which is pretty shit. The equivalent in Blur is the Shock, which spawns three barriers in your path that slow you down. It's not always easy to dodge them but it's certainly possible.

If you're looking for a similar game, forget Mario Kart. To me, it feels like the spiritual successor to Rollcage, both in looks and gameplay. I'm not the only person to have said this but not many people have played Rollcage.

I also really like the competitve aspect of it. I'm finding that to be true for most 360 games because I'm new to the whole Live thing but Blur seems to do this more than most. It puts a big emphasis on beating your friends. There are many interesting stats to compare and many achievements to win.

It's not perfect but I have very few complaints. There have been a few occasions where I wished for an action replay feature. At the moment, you can only pause the game and take a still image. It doesn't show you the shape of the track until after you've chosen your car and it starts to load, which is annoying. We were disappointed the other day to find that it can't do split-screen while using System Link. Apparently the developers have listened to feedback on all of these issues and I suspect the sequel will be a real winner.

I've always liked arcade-style racers but it's been a long time since I seriously played one. I played NFS Underground a fair bit but the last time I played a racer this much was probably Screamer all the way back in 95. I'm getting into Forza 3 but it's a very different game and I don't enjoy it as much, to be honest.

Care to share the idea? Or maybe just in private?

I might explain it the blog next update, if i cant think of anything else.
Id hate to give away a good idea if I have the opportunity to develop it myself,
but right now I don't know if I'll ever have an opportunity to develop anything ever again.

Blur doesnt support the wheel actually which is ashame.

Loving blur, pity no bigger system link players and slip stream. I use to love split second but hating it now due to the rubber band system.
