Downtime - 19/8/2005

Sorry about the downtime folks. I decided to strip down the server by getting rid a load of unnecessary crap and then proceeded to do an upgrade. I could have left the web server running and it would have been fine the whole time (aaah Linux) but just after I started removing stuff, I instinctively stopped it by which time it was too late and I wasn't able to start it again until most of the upgrade had completed. The upgrade is still happening now but it's nearly finished.

Okay so uh... that was slightly more downtime than I anticipated. The first part of the upgrade went absolutely perfectly. The second part, however, was a total fuck up and I wasn't able to fix it until I was back in Jersey. That sort of problem shouldn't happen again though, I've installed an "emergency" boot thingy.
