This is part of the Project SoS and therefore part of my Ulimate Beyond X storyline.

This has not been edited nor proof read

This is a RAW plot outline and may or may not make it to the final product.

This is to keep Xanien at bay :P

Project SoS; UBX edition.

He exhaled loudly; the slow rhythmic draw of his own breath was the only tell of time that came close to penetrating his highly focused world. The warmth of the air hitting his back was pleasant, it seemed to be seeping into his body, nibbling at his tired muscles, pleading for rest, which would not come, there was a lot to do and he had no time for sleep. He breathed in deeply, though he tried, there was little he could do to stifle the yawn that was growing within him, and that very act of such a remote physical nature, drained him of all his remaining strength. He had lost this battle; perhaps an hour or two wouldn’t harm him too much. He clumsy pawed at the straps that attached the armour plate to his chest, this was half hearted atempt at best and he shook his head to try to centre his thoughts.

He could however not focus on anything bar the wall about 30 meters down the hall, past the rows of about a dozen or so neatly done beds and broken open footlockers. Pieces of kit, blood stained clothing and damaged weaponry hanging loosely over the top of every table and chair. The drab gunmetal grey wall was as nondescript as every other wall in the place and its appeal had long since faded. For some reason he was repeatedly drawn to it’s presence, his eyes locked upon it, searching for a pattern that could not be there, for some give away, some clue to why it allured him so. The blur of figures walking past their bunks, scattering whatever little piece of detail he thought he had seen only seconds before.

His eyes growing heavier, every time a person flickered by, the images growing darker, as his eyes became more closed than they where before. Finally all descended to a comfortable darkness, the attempt to remove the armour he wore, had become no more than a threading of the material and was quickly forgotten. The faint cackle of a gunfire, set off the wounds on his arms, as if they had a memory all of their own and where reminding him how there where forged. The binding was itchy, causing distraction to the calm he had delved into. His hand clenched around a six pointed star, a keepsake from his youth, digging into his skin, as it tried to stir memories he could not throw away, yet never wanted to recall. 'Not now', his brow creasing as he pushed at the memories that bubbled to the surface, drowning them in the depth of his mind.

Oddly he began feeling like a spring being uncoiled, all the tension the last few weeks had stored in him was slowly easing, carried away by the soft winds that still caressed him, slipping through the gaps in the plate to sooth every ache and pain, albeit only momentarily. The noise of gunfire was getting more intense only fractions of a second between the pulls of several semi automatic rifles and he swore he could pick out the thunderous boom of a high powered rifle. But its distance must have been vastly out of range for its faint traces where barely audible, even to his keen battle-hardened senses.

His silent reverie was savagely shattered by the clash of a thunderous explosion, his eyes shot open; his pistol was out holster before he had even thought about it, instantly filled with an odd zeal, using energy moments before he couldn’t have imagined he even had. He scanned the local area, everything looked calm, everyone was crashed out on their bunks looking as at ease as even he had moments before, no debris had came through the windows and all the walls where intact. Now that he had time to think about it he had felt none of the vibration that should accompany an explosion of that volume.

It was then he released that he still had headphones attached to the computer he’d rigged up beside his cot; he smiled at his own stupidity, snorting out a suppressed chuckle, before burying his head in his hands. He began rubbing his eyes, try to shake free the tiredness in them, moving in slow circles his finger tips began to brush out and on to his temples, he barked a laugh. He had forgotten that he’d set it up to decompress the BRM, which stood for Ballistics Record and Management, it was a highly detailed list of several thousand statistics, that the suits they all wore, recorded during every moment and movement as they fought, including a video feed, supplied from the helmet mounted camera. It’d taken nearly an hour for the old decrepit heap to process what would have taken seconds back at base, but this would suffice for now.

"Ryko, man, you need to chill out!’ the voice was muffled by the phones but he recognized it instantly.

He grunted, sounding very non-committal, replacing the pistol in its holster, shrugging his shoulders in one brief attempt to cover up for his error, then returned to the computer. Flicking through the few options, he replayed the mission from the top and turned the speed up to full. The computer churned noisily but responded in the end, the action moved at a lightening quick pace, what had once been a drawn out campaign of gunfire and movement was a flash of action in a sea of endless running from point to point. He clicked and the screen froze, highlighting a section of the screen it zoomed in, a small sphere, barely visible on the poor resolution the computer was providing and only in black and white, knocking the images back a few frames with swift click of the mouse, ah! Now he saw it.

A Vapor, it had torn up his position, two men had fallen to its high explosive yield, one of them would recover after some extensive medical treatment, the other would be returned to the fires that created him, that was whenever support finally caught up with them. He should have seen it, it was there as plain as day, on the screen before him, he was responsible for all of it. He flicked the image to infra red and it glowed up like a Christmas tree light, flicking back to normal view it disappeared from view and only the intense movement of the explosion gave it all away. High velocity vapor launchers had been around for ages but this left none of the distinctive visible trail.

In Military terms the mission was a total successes, less than 10% casualties and his thirty strong outfit had outfought a notable opposing force, the area was finally surrendered after what must have been the longest contestation in living memory. He felt as shudder flow through him as he had just referred to the sight of people lying face down in the dirt as numbers and statistics, which had become and increasing habit with his commanding officers. He’d express his concerns over these new weapons being deployed but they as always seemed to fall on deaf ears, it seemed there was little point these days.

Someone was standing behind him; he could feel the change in the breeze from the obstruction and the shadow that fell over the corner of the bed beside him. He turned around, pulling the headphones off as he did, looking into the face of a young officer. He glanced over the man’s uniform, junior grade though from the markings and badges clearly messenger from the CEO himself; Ryko raised a questioning eyebrow at the lad, this made the boy shift his footing and cough before finally speaking up.

‘Sir’ the boy saluted, Ryko merely nodded in return ‘New orders in’
With that he thrust a pad in his direction, Ryko took it in hand and glanced over the context, gibberish, as he placed his finger over the scanner and the words decoded. A new contestation only two sectors away, he had to leave 20 men behind to defend and take his force to augment with the local defensive commander’s own forces. It should be enough he imagined depends on how much they bribed this time, man he hated fighting the Scorn. He signed the pad and the letters wiped themselves from the screen. Handing it back to the boy as he stood up, he saluted back this time and the young officer spun on his heels and marched off.

Ryko cast a glance at the man whom had spoken earlier, lying sprawled over his bed only his head lifted as he looked on with a forlorn expression. Ryko nodded twice quickly, the man’s expression changed to a frown as he propelled himself up and off the bed, shaking his long hair out of his eyes. Ryko looked on as the man began kicking beds and waking up several soldiers. He tightened the straps on his armour and reloaded his BRM, he drew a hand across his close shaven head before throwing the helmet over his head, as the eye shield descended he cleared his mind of all the thoughts about the weaponry he had faced, that was for techs and bureaucrats now.

His men assembled before him in a matter of seconds, sliding back into armour with an ease that only a certain dexterity and constant repetition could bring. He raised his hand and they all put on their helms, turning as he dropped his arm, ten pairs of boots create a storm of noise as they followed him up the stairs and out of the bunker.

"Could you hurry it up in there?" a nervous sounding man was squeaking into the dark recess before him.

Twisted metal hung around the edge of the hole and mounds of dirt and cement piled up on either side, peering inside he could see the outline of pipe work and cabling running throughout the whole of the tunnel, a gap barely big enough for a man however existed through the centre.

"Depends, do you want to be blown to pieces?’ as it came the voice echoed, reaching out, bouncing around till it sounded like it came from all directions from both inside the tunnel and out.

He sighed deeply, how long had he been working with Daven? five years? Seemed like ten, stand there, stand here, he was nothing more than a glorified butler at times. Straight out of college he’d been drafted into a leading LeveL 2 company, he had rose swiftly through the ranks, many commented that in a few years he would be a director of the local branch, with even brighter things to come. On days like today he tried to pin point the moment where it had all fallen apart, it never came.

Where had it all gone wrong?

All of a sudden, or so it seemed to him at any rate, people had cooled towards him, project after project had been rejected, and it went beyond just bad luck, no man could be this unlucky, he felt cursed. He was transferred more times than he could count; the months past by in what was a nothing more than a blur of paperwork and half memory to him now. Somehow he’d ended up working as an administration assistant to some crackpot scientist and his solid fuel weapons program. Oh how that had certainly sounded promising, the bitter memory evilly reminding him, he’d been quite excited at the time, mores the pity. It was like getting a firm grip on the first rung up the ladder, some steady ground to try and build back up to the dizzy heights or so he had thought.

The emotions still burned in his mind, stored for all time, the level of shear misery never faultering for a second. He’d been in high spirits that day too, that was till he saw Daven’s workshop, it looked like it was the epicentre of some sort paper explosion, blackboards where dotted throughout the room, chalked writting, hastily wiped off, could still be seen underneath, where the harsh newer lettering scrapped over the top. His heart had dropped right down to LeveL 4, which oddly enough is where he now stood; the mighty had certainly fallen far. At the age of thirty nine chances of the promotions foretold in his youth might as well be forgotten, it would be less painful that way. And much to his own chargin all he could think of was the old saying 'A man makes his own luck' ...liars

"Daven, our Guards are getting restless, they claim there is lot of activity from the locals " the last word was spat out by the nervous man.

As if he had heard the comments, one of the soldiers in his blood red armour shifted his footing, another stood up, as the further one squatted down. An old tactic, by keeping themselves moving around at all times, they made it look like there was more than just the four of them on that mound in the distance. The illusion of even fractionally greater numbers than the four organised professional soldiers should be enough to deter even the most bold of the local gangs. However that being said, they’d all seen the news reports and heard the vile rumours, Level 4 was no picnic, it was only a matter of time before they got braver still.

If only Daven would hurry, he thought. There were several sharp cracks, as one of the soldiers, let off a few rounds, his body lurching up from the ground with the shear force of the large boxy looking gun, as the bolt slammed back, the cartridge ejected falling from mound towards the nervous man, he shuddered, reviled by it. The sharp spike of light from the muzzle could be seen far into the distance. The anti tank rounds thumping into the ground around them seemed to be enough to disperse the crowd of men, whom had been slowly growing in number over the last few hours. Huddled around what had to be a Café, its front window smashed in, the sign hanging off its hinges, he still however recognised the company logo. Their back off was temporary for they soon regrouped around another building a good few more meters back, the nervous man gripped anxiously at his binoculars.

He nearly convulsed as he felt the cold metallic hand clamping down on his shoulder with bone crunching force. He leapt in shock, the binoculars falling from his grasp.

The soldier shook his head, as he handed them back, his facial expression unreadable behind the dull red mask.

"Gentlemen, it’s about time we evac’d, the hell out of here" He voice had almost more of an echo than Daven’s had.

He glanced in anticipation at the tunnel, hoping for an ever so brief glimpse of actaul movement. He was not to be disappointed, as a bulbous burlap sack began prodding its way out, it surface covered in some sort of black tar and oil, followed ever so promptly by the contorted body of Professor Daven.

"I’m done! I’m done already" cried Daven, the metal pipes rattling as he made his way out.

Daven was short scruffy looking old man, his white hair sticking out at every angle, his beard had been covered with grime, his face was set with thick lens glasses, slightly askew, perched atop a nose that had been broken a few times and never set correctly. He almost looked a polar opposite to the nervous man who wasn’t very tall but, still managed to tower over Daven and despite clearly working in the digging of the hole before the tunnel was nowhere near the state that Daven had got himself into.

"Let’s get up there" pointing to direction the other soldiers "this is gonna be one helluva bang"

The man nodded in agreement and started bounding up the hill after the soldier, Daven shook his head at the preoccupation of youth with speed and gathering up his tools and started off after his assistant. Looking up at the steel sky above them he had to wonder what kinda genius could think up such a thing as he saw now. He smiled, to those whom had crafted such a wondrous place his own actions must seem, so small, petty almost and the grand designs of the company that backed his expeditions must have seemed rather redundant.

He had often wondered what they where thinking, where they as he was now? filled with a sensible fear and terrible joy. The fear that his mission would fail and all the things he had worked so hard for in the past 5 years would be for nothing, that his theories had been utterly incorrect and that the lives, such as these fine soldiers here today had been put in danger for nothing. The Joy that he might succeed, the principles he put forward would be proved right and the theories of Dr. Sedd and Sinnd’s earlier work would be validated but, then all this would be coming to a very abrupt end and what a terrible shame that would be.

He heard a muffled scream, his gaze lowered from the sky above to the crest of the sandy hill that his assistant and the soldier had past only a few moments before. Suddenly, he was rocked from his feet, by a series of terrifying explosions, the dirt and sand beneath his feet shifted, he began to fall. Trying desperately to retain his balance, he grabbed unto a metal bar to steady himself. He breathed a sigh of relief.

However, only now he realised the terrible horror, he was holding the barrel of a gun, he snapped his eyes shut, whimpering slightly, hoping against hope that he had made a mistake in vision. Slowly his eyelids prised open, tenderly one at a time, he lifted his gaze. He travelled along the barrel and up heavily muscled arms, finally crested by the face of a huge man, he features looked like they where forged with a chisel and his dreadlocked hair fell over a pair of coal black eyes that seemed to burn into Daven. White paint was splattered across his face in some sort of tribal pattern on his dark grinning face, his toothy smile, smacked of pure malice. Daven recoiled as if struck; he fell over, edging back on the dirt floor before scrambling to his feet, to scurry off.

"Bang" The painted man muttered, as he raised his rifle to sight it, pulling a long squeeze of the trigger.

The hushed auditorium was filled with smoke, men in business suits and a thick atmosphere filled with tension, they had all invested a lot in the project. James fidgeted; he couldn’t find anything to distract himself from the proceedings. He had spent hours agonising over every detail of this meeting and what it would entail, it was a good idea but would they buy it. His thoughts raised a smile, that was true in both a literal and metaphorical sense. This was their first meeting with the new owners and they had to impress.

As the starting time came and went, the businessmen, many powerful players in the organisation to which they all where now a part, began to relax begin exchanging greetings and cards. As they chattered amongst themselves what had started as as idle chit chat became more of a dull roar and he could find little to quell their noise, making it harder than ever to focus on the plans he lain out on the small chair mounted table before him.

The dais in front of them was surrounded by powerful lights but they remained off for the time being, shrouding the table and white screen board in utter darkness only the faint light of those over the seats where he and the men of the company sat, illumined the scene before them. James shifted uncomfortably he felt exposed, out of place in his plain shirt and jeans amongst all these suits, for more than the first time he questioned his decision not to listen to Dr. Sedd and wear something more formal.

They all plunged into darkness, the lights making an audible crack as they flashed out of existence. The talking ceased, only the scrapping of chairs as people regained their seats permeated the silence, the tension was being to boil over the air seemed to cling together, James swore his breathing was louder. As the bulbs in the light fictures above the dais heated up there was a brief ping before it was droned out by the dull humming sound.

As the dais was lit up, a man in a sharply pressed suit appeared behind the desk that no-one has noticed him standing there in the darkness of before, several of the people behind him gasped, the tug of a smile could almost be seen in the corner of his mouth, but in a second it was gone. Apart from that he maintained his blank facial expression throughout the first few moments, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. He brushed a wayward strand of hair back into place with a now loosed hand, grey was seeping into the shiny black hair eating away near the temples, and the colour seemed to have also spread to his moustache which was almost totally grey. He smiled now, he spread his arms in a wide gesturing motion as he began to speak.

"Good evening Gentlemen, I trust we have not kept you waiting too long, don't worry we won’t keep you much longer"

His voice was thick with an accent that James could not place; he must come from upper the LeveLs, whoever this was he had to be important. Dr Sedd hated to be late, he must have held the whole meeting up just so this man could be here to speak, it showed patience which was extremely rare for the Doctor, this validated the man’s importance. He put these thoughts to the back of his mind as the man began to speak again after the laughter had subsided, he must have missed something, and damn it he should be paying attention.

"It as been 3 months now since we won Foun Institute from the Tau Corporation, in the contestation for this sector, it was the asset we most prized. Long have we looked at the Tau and wondered how they continually ignored the development this company has made, deeming them unmarketable and unprofitable" he scoffed, taking in the time to drink some water left on the desk.

"However, all this company needs is the right backing and focus, and the profits will sort themselves out. This company had a flux of young talent and all they needed was the right mentor, so that’s why I drafted in Dr. Sedd from our research and devoplment department and asked him to take a personal hand in the project. In just three short months he’s had some astounding finds."
"This Corporation has been on a downward spiral since my father’s time, long have we been without an increase in growth or gain. Only the Tau Corporation have feared worse than us in the last two years... we have been hit hard"

There was a pause, he man moved in front of the desk leaning back on it somewhat, he placed his hands in his pockets and looked more relaxed. The man was a skilled orator and even James found himself hanging on his every word.

"I don’t know how many times I’ve heard, that there’s no such thing as smart business anymore that we, the Corporations, have dumbed it all down. That there is no innovation, only cheap copies of other ideas, no expansion, only cut back. And they’re right. And they always will be. Because the people that say these things are our consumers and if they don’t feel we’re doing a good job, then we must not be and if where losing business then there must be something fundamentally wrong with what we as a corporation are doing. And I think I’ve found it."

He gestured off into the darkness of his right.

"Its men like Dr. Sedd and his team. Working and thinking forward, thinking of what we are missing and saying ‘hey, lets fix that’ or ‘hey, we could do this’ and their solutions don’t look safe or they are not cost effective nor they are easily marketable. I say damn that, if we make a good product it’ll sell. If we make a wrong move sure, well fall down, but there is no father to fall that we have done already, we had to fight three takeovers last year. Three. We used to be one the top three companies in the whole level structure never mind LeveL 2 which is what we’ve been relegated too. It’s time to take a chance. It’s time we made mistakes because you can fix a mistake, you can’t do much about a total destruction,
It’s high time we took a chance, and this small company with innovative ideas and the right mental attitude to fit our new ideals are the ones to lead us to top. And we can reach that top again, but it’s you … all of you that have got to MAKE it happen, I can only do so much and by Rath I'll do my utmost to help you succeeded. It’s time we became the best, in all aspects! I’m tired of having only memories of greatness, Now is the time for promise to show, but now you need to hear from Dr. Sedd about our new ideas…."

"Thank you Mr. Minobu!" spoke a wiry sound voice from the distance

The man was at an emotional high point and was a bit flustered when he motioned for Dr. Sedd to come on stage. The man, Minobu, obviously believed very prominently in the work they where doing. Minobu he’d heard that name before but, where? His thoughts trailed off ad Dr. Seed took the centre stage. He White lab coat flecked with old stains, burn marks and slicked with some sort of oil beside on of the pockets in the tails. James could barely suppress a chuckle ‘and he, told me, I should dress for the occasion’

Seed’s was a solidly built man, in good order for a man of his advanced years, he was still full of energy, his hair and closely cropped beard where shock white, however he still had the glow of some youth about him. James could think of numerous times where the Doctor had outlasted him in the double shift loads they’d been doing to finish these projects in time and he was a third of the Doctors age. The Doctor pushed up his thin round glasses clicked a button and the projector flared to life, it displayed 4 round discs and a series of boxes that made up a diamond in the centre. As the clapping subsided he stood fully upright and started the lecture, James knew every word almost by heart he’d been there when the Professor wrote it.

"Thank you all for coming" he hesitated momentarily overtaken by all those eyes upon him "Well… isn’t this exiting"

Ask he chuckled nervously; James squeezed his eyes closed, and prayed ‘Please just stick to the presentation like you wrote it Professor, don’t choke now’

"This is the LeveL Structure" gesturing to the board using a point stick he swooped over the diagram from left to right.

"From LeveL 1 to LeveL 4, Each LeveL is approximately 15miles in diameter, with 10 sectors viable for contestation, this means business is tough, this we all know. To be a business you need to hold a quarter of one sector, and no more than 2, which leaves you very vulnerable to contestation as history has proven, simple because of the level or resources needed to protect your interests. To be a coalition you need to hold at least a sector but no more than 10 and only in one LeveL. To be a Corporation you have to hold at least 1 sector in every level below the one your in, for example if you where a LeveL 3 corporation you need to hold at least 1 sector in LeveL 4. This you all know as you have been taught since your cradle is the way of life"

"For anyone, from simple business to the mighty corporations, holding ground means everything, protecting your possessions with all costs, engaging in the harshest actions, using all the means at your disposal to ensure one thing and one thing only, survival."

Dr Sedd to a long drink of water, stopping mid flow to ensure that his audience was listening and that he hadn’t completely lost them in his story. The projector flipped to a picture of a soldier wearing fatigues and carrying and ancient looking rifle.

"Since the Chaos of the LeveL structures birth ended, this has been at the forefront of the new business acumen, the warrior. In order for a Company to grow it must first have land, others may want this land and so how do they go about getting it?"

"They fight for it. It was from this simple ethos that the contestation system came about, though it’s history is more complex that I explain, I fear it would be to long a tale to tell tonight. When Mr. Minobu first came to me with his own ideas of how to make the Corporation his father loved so, strong again I took a long hard look. And do you know what I saw?"

"This Corporation loses 87% of all its contestations. 87% that’s a massive amount, it seems everyone has forgotten the basic principles that make this system work, in order to succeed you have to hold on to what you’ve got. In is in this mould that I advised him to contest for this very company, it shows great promise and has excellent young minds they with some luck managed to snatch without any of us noticing. In order to buck this trend we have to use their bright young mind with a few wise old heads, like myself."

This brought a ripple of laughter from the crowd, and Dr. Sedd himself grinned talking years of his aging face. Waving down the laughter, the screen began to flicker the Warrior began to change, first his gun, becoming more modern looking, and then his kit changed from a green to a mottled grey and black. Armour Plating began to be placed on the arms and legs then the chest and finally the new A-BRM helms that everyone had started to deploy.

"The concept of Evolution was tackled long ago, it is the concept by where in order to survive one must adapt. But you can’t only just adapt once, you have to keep on adapting once you’ve started, because if you’ve gotten smarter, somebody else has gotten faster. It is a endless cycle of constant struggle in order to stay one step ahead, just enough out of reach in order not to be eaten"

"And we where nearly eaten three times last year" piped in Minobu from his seat

"quite true, quite true Mr Minobu" Sedd laughed "And in order to ensure this doesn’t happen this year we must evolve our fighting methods and our equipment and that is why I will had proceedings over to my junior colleague at this point, James.

The spotlight above James’ head snapped on, blinding his with it’s searing azure beam, he reeled back and shut his eyes closed reflexively. Bringing his hands up to shield his ruined vision it began to dawn on him, ‘what did he say?’. The full horror slowly sinking in ‘He said my name, I’m supposed to go up!, that’s not in the script.’ Slowly James got out of his seat, as apprehensive as a new born calf as if unsure wither or not his own legs could power him down the steps at all and for all their wobbly sensibility he wasn’t sure they could.

As he approached the stage the desk seemed to grow in size what had appeared quite small only moments before was vast, seemly endless. As he turned to face the crowd, he could only pick out silhouettes now and the lights skewered his vision further making identification even more difficult. He approached Dr Sedd, grating his teeth through the smile, shaking his hand warmly and smiling to the crowd.

"This isn’t the way it was gonna happen why am I up here?"

"Plans change, Adapt my boy, Adapt" And with a quick slap on the back Dr Sedd bound of the stage with the gusto of a man half his age.

James stood nervously, he waved to the crowd, putting his other hand through his short black hair. Exhaling loudly he shuffled the few pages in front of him. He felt sick, he fought down a wave of nausea, now he finally released why Dr. Sedd had spent all that time going over his speech, he planned this all along.

"As Dr Seed already mentioned, evolution is the key to success in the Level structure, and no one factor is more to guarantee this that the soldier. As time has past the soldiers role has become more complex from simple warrior all the way to the High tech BRM supported infantry man you see in service today. What we here in the Fond institute have found is that the solider isn’t that well protected at all. All he have to protect him are a few straps of C-Lat anti ballistic material and bulkily metal plates that are both cumbersome and hard to repair. So with out further a do I introduce to you the next evolution of the warrior."

The lights dimmed, James had protested against it but he was overruled, he stared in wonder as clomping sound of metal against wood signalled his arrival before, 6 and one half feet of armour, machine and man came stomping towards Him before turning and aiming at the crowd with the huge bulk of a gun. The Armour shown in its blue hue, glistening under the intense light, no physical feature of the soldier was visible, a faceless blue mask covered his face all that could be seen where two dark black holes for eye that where no more than slits.

"The Kaos armour is the latest in technology it uses our new form of Ballistic absorbing material where as C-Lat is a cloth, this is a polymer and can be easily moulded into any shape it also has four times the stopping power. We originally designed this for buildings that got damaged during contestations if we coated the bottom of the builds it would save billions in repair work. The idea was rejected as unmarketable by the Tau Corporation. We hadn’t even thought of its combat sues till Dr Seed provided us with the frame to use it with."

"Originally, the Kaos used high density metal plates to cover the exoskeleton which protects the soldier and head to too encases him in a complete layer of bullet-proofed armour. This was hard to move and even with the addition of mechanically assisted motor movement the loss in both speed and movement was unacceptable. With the use of or polymer and a new fibre to make the exoskeleton from Zerbo inc. We produced something with almost 4 times the ballistic stopping power of your average solider and at a third the weight of the old Kaos Model."

There was a hushed awe only spoiled by a few gasps every now and then. The armour made the man look most inhuman he seemed to bristle anger and power, he resemble some demon from a fairytale. James paused using the projector to feed directly into the soldiers onboard BRM. The screen flickered but eventually showed the crowd, the lights made the picture blurry and out of focus.

"The Kaos comes with a complete set of electronic and visual enhancements, for example he can now see in Infra-red, ultra violet, heat signature and light enhanced. With on board BRM’s in every suit all aspects can be monitored via a control rooms as standard infantry can. Jumping run speed and strength are all increased by 25% but he suits mechanised assistance. Fully ventilated air supply and fire retardant, think is more a walking talk than a common solider. However he is the soldier evolved and he is the future"

"Thank you, James" Minobu took over "This along with a series of other moves will se use grow in to might force once again. We aren’t gonna stop with these suits however we need experienced soldiers to wear them and our forces are in a sorry state so where working on a way to improve that. The is a unit in particular we’ve been looking at for a long time, the Aurian’s Edge. They are a top notch LeveL 3 company with the famous Ryko as their commander, you should remember him he’s give us quiet a hammering in the last year. We enter discussions next week, so keep that under your hat for now and we have a few tricks under our sleeve. Good night gentlemen, sleep well for tomorrow is our day and a glorious day that shall be for us and the Ho-Ki Corporation."

If this is all I'm getting for a while, I'm gonna take my time reading the rest of it. HOWEVER, I did read all the way up to the first break (and I'll read the rest over the next week or two until I hear about another chapter). God dude . . this takes me back. I mean, just reading something of this quality period. The effort you put into every sentence is highly noticable. Really like the description you use when writing this, and how you go about introducing and developing your characters. You take your time and build a strong foundation, which is good in the long run when you get towards the end. Then people will actually care about them! I would say I'm impressed, but I was impressed the first time I read UB, so this is just fortifying what I thought before. Awesome job on this little side story. Can't wait to hear about Seth again, and see him slicing through that crowd of innocents and taking on the army battalion sent to suppress him, :D .

Much better than the early chapters of Impact . . . but then again, our writing styles are somewhat different so it's all in the mind of the reader. Now that you have posted this first part, I can finally start up Impact. Thanks for posting Mik, I'll be watching for updates in the future!

Oy, well I read the second section of this finally. Getting good mate, really I must say so. However, it kinda sucks that AURA has problems with formatting, putting those weird squares in your text instead of quotations. Anyways, maybe after another few days I'll read up the rest of this and let you know what else I think. Hope you have had enough time to put something together. I'm looking forward to posting chapter 3 of Impact in a few days, but I'm really excited to see what new chapter you have to this or even to see the start of UBX!

UBX, is on hold atm (it's spent like 5 years on hold). I'm stuck on parts to be totally honest, I want it to be epic and I just don't seem to have epicness in me right now. I got some time off coming up hopefully that will help.

Currently however I have a choice sleep or work on stories, sleep is winning out atm. Plus I managed to talk myself into yet another side project, this time it's a good friend of mine that needs plot and history to his NWN module, It's titled, project: GIGO, should be ready as soon as I get time and motivation.

As long as you're posting SOMETHING here, that's pretty cool. I'm working on Chapter 15 of Impact at the moment, but still have at least 12 more weeks before I post it here considering I'm only on Chapter 3 with posting at the moment . . . just make sure you'll keep us updated and post your works between that time. Thanks!

The GIGO thing is a gift piece so I'm getting permission before I post it up anywhere, I have a few pieces like that, I might try and get permission for them all.

Dude, you said there was more on the way like a year ago. POST DAMN IT!!! I've put out 3 chapters in the last month! Not saying they are good (but there are one or two decent ones), but still ... at least I'm writing. Mofo ...get back in the game.
