I figure I'll put the concepts and stuff in here, and actual story related images in the other place.

so here we go...
concepts are all still being worked out, so nothing is really definite or consistent at the moment, and everything is in draft mode, so nothing is clean.
over time that should change and you'll start to see things take a definitive form.

que 'dueling banjos'

WWJ

Meet Willis Walker Johns ;) a.k.a. Will he's a simple life character from the Georgia backwoods.
not much to him, as he appears to be the stereotypical, lazy, slow talkin, simple minded, country bumkin.
but appearances can be deceiving.
So is there something more to Willis?

actually No, there isnt.

he's the hero.

WWJ costume design.

Damzel
http://ea-research.com/jkaoz/psnl/wwjohns/char_dmzl.jpg

Dont let the name fool you, their is no distress here.
she's strong, independent, quick witted, and.....irritating, and annoying, and bitchy, and self serving.

originally from the same country life as Will is, but she moved away for the big city to make something of her self.
shes often embarrassed by her past, and resents Will, as she sees him a living representative of it. however...
being that she doesnt have too many friends....ok no friends.('cept Will)
she trys to tolerates him.

The Aliens
http://ea-research.com/jkaoz/psnl/wwjohns/scrap_01.jpg

they're mean and ugly. and they have come to enslave and/or eat the human race.
They haven't decided yet...
They originally cam for the slavery but they found out we actually taste pretty good too.

taking over the planet was pretty easy. they just dont really have much of an idea on what to do with it now.

When humanity fought back it was like a toddler kicking super-man in the shin.
it didn't work.
it didnt work because they're practically invulnerable to everything on earth. chemical, bio, and physical weapons of all kinds...nothing has worked....yet

she's probably change quite a bit.
I'm working on another character for another project, and I think some of the visual features of that character are leaking into this one.

theirs a duality in the characters visual appearance. but as far as internally I'm not sure one will or even needs to exist.

part of the fun of the character is that he's so 2D

these are the aliens.
they're like goblins or something.

I'm setting up the first page.
its just a mater of decided what order/angles the panels need to go in.

ink testnig...

I havent used ink in a while.
especially freehand ink.

its troubling.
I my like my freehand inks better than my pencils.
but ink doesnt allow for any mistakes or derection changes.
and inking over pencils doesnt give as solid as a result as i'd like (plus its twice the work)

A mummy. unrelated to the project

I have a template penciled out for the panels.
I originally wanted a 21 page book. averaging 7 pages per section.
but I'm up 5 pages already and not much has really happened.

you should see the thousands of scrap sheets i have from over the years, filled with misc crap.

If i don't pull something from them right then, I usually come back weeks, months, or years later and do.

I'm thinking about changing damsels role...if not cutting her out altogether.

here's the pencils for a cover I'm working on.
It may be good enough to skip the inks and take it straight to shop. but that all depends on the style of painting I want to do.

nah thats a cop out. I should just ink it.

But I'd hate to start inking it and then fuck it up somehow.

not familiar with the angle that the face is positioned in, so I'm trial and error filing in the features. its blank/basic here.

its mostly aerial combat on his part.
the core baddies stand about 1 or 2 stories tall. (the ones worth a damn anyway.)

Sigh...

All these days later and I'm just now realizing I can ink the shit digitally and worry free.

I'm so slow sometimes.

ok theirs at least 2 kinds of aliens here...

The brutish giant sized kind
Image

The human sized intellectual kind....
of course they're still pretty dumb.

Image

not sure im all set on the intellectual look. it looks so familiar...
like from an old childhood cartoon. though I cant pin it down. myself

NOTE: the aliens are actually NOT more technologically advanced than humans.
sure they build ships and traveled galaxies etc...

but other than that..... they have the equivalent of a United States High School education and to top it off, most everything on earth is new and strange to them.
so they're also ignorant.
