Been working on the 3d model a bit more.

So shes got the new hands now, but what ive really been working at was the new hair.
The hair from before was actually a placeholder.
Its tuff trying to figure out a game efficient way of doing dreadlocks.

Still not completely satisfied. but I think its a good start.
so

and the image that inspired the character

Do people still use that technique where they "grow" the hair instead of trying to shape each strand? It makes a lot of sense to me and if you could adjust certain properties like the thickness and texture, it could work really well for dreads.

Wasn't the grown hair mainly used for CGI squences ?

Most in-game character models seem to use like a block and then animate a few pieces of it and then texture the rest as a kinda hack job.

dunno exactly what youre talking about jim.
but xsi does have a hair tool and lots of style options you can sorta grow it with the scale tool. lots of properties in there for texture and thickness as well.

problem is its such a bitch to use that it probably requires a course
and im not sure how exactly to carry it over to game space. it'd work fine in xsi, but imported into a game she might end up bald.
seems like somthing you need extra code for or somthing

so I think im going to be pull one of miks hack jobs. but with segmented peice and more strands that animate than the average game offers.

maybe

edit: its a game. small pet project at the moment. simple hack and slash
hopefully somthing a bit more official later. new things happening with the company atm.

actually it only took 1 year for them to learn.
the first year was spent debating on wether we wanted to use the bat winged species or bird winged species.

some people didnt want wings at all. jjust....get this.."hover bikes."

another shot to resemble the painting i was doing a few weeks ago.

Image

its rigged with the male rig so some of the parts warp a bit.
evidence is in how the fingers bend weird at the knuckle.
(cuzz the male rig has broder shoulders which pretty much throws off the entire arm.)
