loads of spare time...
Gimmie another solid week and this will probably look like.....good?
In my spare time I've been reading loads of comics again.
its helping.
The library actually has a "fair" selection.
Here's a look at my 2nd go at the kaos model.
I started from scratch this time and tried to get all the proportions(comic book proportions) just right.
I think i'm fairly close. theirs still a few areas I need to look into.
the count on the body itself is around 1050 last time I checked. (that means it probably wouldnt do too bad even on the old quake engine)
I havent counted up the clothing just yet. (that means it probably would make quake engine stall into unplayable speeds.)
This time around I think I got the hat mechanics figured out dead on.
It looks just about like the original design, includes all 6 ears, and I even have it setup to animate. It still need more work, (3 minutes worth) but the essence of all my sketchess is there.

It strikes me as kinda cartoon-like... is that what you were going for? I'm clueless about comics but I'm slowly becoming more interested.
I could be wrong but wouldn't the speed of the Quake engine mostly depend on the hardware it was running on? Granted I suppose modern engines might be designed to handle such models better.

ofc all games performance is limited by machine your running it on, but usually they have an amount of stuff the engine is designed to take at optium level, I think most models in NWN where fairly low in terms of Polycount and we ran some models with like three times the standard numbers with no prolbems, but I dare say it would have exploded if we threw some FFX character models in there

I guess what I ment was for the time of the engine. way back in 90somthing...
but I just counted up clothes recently. not too bad.
all together it barely breaks the 2000 mark.
so I still got lots of play room left.
You get to see the hat in motion. I'm making a video.
Kaos vs Kaos.
But since i suck it animation at the moment, the versus part means debate.
