whos the greatest of the epic tale like metal band

From those killer tunes that you heard 6 years ago in the back of a mini bus, heading into Utah, or the songs that are on the radio now. This is the place. (No R&B please, because it doesn't exist)

i prefer power metal over any type of metal, im just curious to see, how many people really do like power metal and how many of you like diffrent music really, culture is really amazing and when you get down to it these bands have all lead to the same conclusions all over the world, now thats an amazing idea so i thought id ask for your povs.

Ooh tough choice and I only know three of them. It has to be Blind Guardian though. Gotta get some more and hopefully I'll see them later this year.

Hmm...well I really don't consider Iron Maiden or Dream Theater, to be "epic tale-like" metal bands (a better term escapes me) but, just picking from the bands in the poll, I'd give it to Dream Theater.

Iced Earth? i mean they are good and everything, but i never really thought of them as 'epic tale like'

oh, I wonder if In Flames "Whoreacle" Abum counts. It dosn't tell a story exactly, but the album has an epic, re-occuring theme feel to it.

Rhapsody? Hahaha. I bought one of their albums on someone's recommendation but they aren't really my kind of thing. It's the sort of music I would expect to hear in Soul Calibur. I listen to it once in a while though.

Most of Iced Earth's albums have a consistent theme to them. "Dark Saga" follows the story of Spawn, "The Glorious Burden" is about the American Civil War, etc.

You know, Tenacious D should be up there, purely for Wonder Boy. :D

but even though some of these bands may not be purely be based around talelikemetal they are still some of the biggest inspirations for tale like metal fopr exmple iced earth, they and blind guardian made a little band called demons and wizards and they are the biggest tale like metal band i can think of as for dream theater, they are another huge inspiration for this type of music, so i was more going for big icons of this type of music, not purely arguing that all these bands purely made this type of music.

Hell i was gonna complain about Pink Floyd not being there, but there's that stipulation in the title.
