Ripping MP3s from CDs

From those killer tunes that you heard 6 years ago in the back of a mini bus, heading into Utah, or the songs that are on the radio now. This is the place. (No R&B please, because it doesn't exist)

As the title indicates, what is the best program for windows that I can use to rip mp3 files off of my CDs. I'm sick of using Windows Media Player to make WMAs when I could be making MP3s instead.

http://www.dbpoweramp.com

I recommend OGGs over MP3s unless you need to play them on some device that can't play OGGs.

This is Echo! heheh

The reason why not WMA is b/c he is a linux user so hates MS stuff lol. I liked WMA I had it for my old MP3 player but my new one which has been fryed didnt like WMA. Plus when I start using it, u had to get a lisence for ur albums and u couldnt edit the wavetable and some progs didnt like them. Buts its all changed now. I do recommend it. Better sound quality and less space I cant complain.

Mak isn't a Linux user. I didn't say anything about WMA. I can play them in Linux. I can even make them in Linux if I use Wine. I would recommend OGG over all of these though.

Yeah, but you can't burn OGG files to a cd and play them on DVD players.

Search on Google for

Cdex

Best ripper ever...

Rip Mp3s at 192kbps that is just about standard now, leaves 128kbps in the dust

I would use ogg if I knew how to properly convert them. Also, I'm not a linux user, I run Windows XP.

dBpowerAMP does MP3, WMA, OGG and a whole bunch of others if you download the codecs for it. It's a really nice piece of kit. Come on, it must be good if it's a Windows program that I have on my Linux desktop menu.

As for playing OGGs back, Winamp comes with the plugin to play them by default. I doubt there are many hardware devices that can play them back but I'm fairly sure there are some in existence.
