Great music

From those killer tunes that you heard 6 years ago in the back of a mini bus, heading into Utah, or the songs that are on the radio now. This is the place. (No R&B please, because it doesn't exist)

Isn't is really annoying when you hear some great piece of music, often classical, and then realise it was used for some stupid TV ad or something? I was listening to Holst's The Planets earlier and I think part of that was used in something stupid but fortunately I can't remember what. And right now, I'm listening to Dvorák's New World Symphony. Do you know what part of that is? It's the bloody Hovis tune. What's extra ironic is that I bought a loaf of Hovis just a couple of hours ago.

Yeah...I tend to think music gets ruined by being played for commercials and (sometimes) movies. Then you start to hear it everywhere, especially if it's a new song, and it never stops playing. >_< Example: Evanescence's Bring Me To Life.

I don't recall that being used for anything here - it just got really really overplayed.

Haha I was listening to Verdi today and I swear a short part of it sounds like they're singing "Fuck me deep!" It amused me so much that I ripped that short part of the piece and uploaded it.

Hey, I happen to like Evanescence...well, before they got famous, anyway. Their old songs are better, really. Things like Where Will You Go, Field Of Innocence, Even In Death, Surrender...however, Evanescence isn't as good as the Dutch band Within Temptation. It's like opera meets gothic metal. Download Ice Queen, Dark Wings, and Deceiver Of Fools and you'll see what I mean.

Try Nightwish if you're looking for opera meets power metal.

Much more refined in their sound. The vocals for Within Temptation get annoying after awhile, the only decent song they really have is "Mother Earth".

As for Evanescence, don't even get me started.

Ahahaha. I've only seen the real ad for that once but that's brilliant. That should definitely have been the real ad!

It sold out in a lot of shops when it came out here, but I bet it would be even more popular with that ad.

I listen to Nightwish as well. I prefer Within Temptation, however. My vocal teacher agrees with me that she has SUCH control over her full voice that it's amazing. She could seriously be an opera star.

...she had classical training, so she could.

Tarja from Nightwish, I mean.
