From those killer tunes that you heard 6 years ago in the back of a mini bus, heading into Utah, or the songs that are on the radio now. This is the place. (No R&B please, because it doesn't exist)

Something i've always had a problem with while playing without a pick is strumming... i can strum fine with one but i dont get the darker warm sound that you get without a pick. My hand is relaxed and im doing a constant down-up motion but it still doesnt sound right...
Can anyone help?

I dont, theres no differnce and all the same i play one all the time
It helps because you have somewhere to rest your hand whilst you use preasure of your thumb to pluck/strum

oh, do NOT rest your 5th finger (pinkie) on the face of the guitar. It's a VERY bad habbit and will hurt you in the long run. If you ever do finger picking you'll want to use it.

lol, finger picking on an electric, your ambisciuos (SP?), good luck dude
I been at it now for 3 years, playing into my 4th and i cant finger pick, you NEED a pick on electric guitar dude, good luck with pitch harmonics without one (you won't achieve pitch harmonics without one)
i use my pinky to palm mute now

id call that pinky muting
ive been practicing around 2-3 hours a day cos of the holidays so im picking up stuff kinda fast i fixed my lil pickless strumming problem. I'm really just working on speed and accuracy at the moment... 0_0;; i dont really care for harmonics at the moment. Something ill try pulling of during college hours *thinks about HUGE college amp*
i should have a electric by august. ^_^
