Actually,"7211" was cut to 15 minutes from the original. They used dialogue from the original episode (Collision of the Aquarius), but redubbed by the new actors. Only the "Place commercial Here" bumper and the twist ending were added.
It wasn't a gag, but rather, a look into how frickin' boring the original series was.
And, of course, Sealab explodes during the credits.
I think what Johnny's referring to is the latest episode, which was written by an Adult Swim Board poster.
