FreeLancer
Well if you've played freelancer what do you think of the controls. Do you think flying your ship using a mouse is a good thing or a bad thing?

the mouse controls work a hell of a lot better in freelancer than the keyboard or joystick in starlancer. there's more room for actual movement of the ship without it being so difficult you can't even aim at the enemy ships. i'd say that's an improvement in freelancer, and had they done it in starlancer that game would have been complete in control functions.
also thought the open game play rather than being limited to certain missions only was a far better concept. had an entire galaxy to explore over going just from one mission to another (yet another poor quality to starlancer, it was too friggin limited in gameplay). the one thing freelancer lacks that starlancer didn't that was completed, would be the storyline. there just wasn't much actual story to freelancer as there was to starlancer.

for a while now but u just dont under Elite, its about 8 years old and ahead of its time. The graphics arnt great but the gameplay is amazing. The freedom to do anything. And just being a retro gamer in liking it, also it was just voted one of the best games in its genre and they said X2 might beat it .. tho I'm still trying to see that
Freelancer owns, easily the best space sim I've played since X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, I'll admit that I haven't played many though, not my style. I got Freelancer because I heard it was sort of RPGish with space craft, so I got it and I was impressed.
As for the mouse flight, I loved it. It was actually more accurate and effective to use the mouse than a flight yoke.
The multiplayer side of Freelancer sucked though, that definitely needed more work. It was mostly people trying to make something out the nothing they started with and then getting blasted by other players and respawning in another solar system wondering how you're gonna replace that lost cargo.
