I'd have 2, but nooo I can't use stuff that raises stats on one occasion, just on the next rather similar occasion.

I'm currently in a campaign with my level 18 wild elf druid. She's really awesome. I soloed 2 Balors if that says anything. But boy was it hard. The first Balor thankfully rolled a 4 on its fortitude save, and was instantly killed by Finger of Death. Then I took down the second one in melee.

elves aren't even supposed to be able to get that high a level, humans can advance more because they don't get all those bullshit perks of elves and the like.

how the hell did you survive 50points of damage formt he death of the balor AND fight another... they have vorpal swords...

never mind... I just remember that vorpal in 3rd edtion just means "it does mroe damage" nothing specail about it

i can tell you now, if you were playing 2nd edition, you wouldn't be able to take on 2 balors... esspecailly not a druid.

wouldn't be able to take on one, much less 2, considering about 15% of their hits would instantly kill you.

it's suppose to be a sword

a vorpal sword has a high chance (20% with each attack) at decapitating an enemy. It's like an improved sword of sharpness.

B) Well it shouldnt be! Vorpal gives the weapon the ability to cut off heads with ease. Elf heads are even easier because they are Elves. One Balor could take one about five druids that and they would gate in a bunch of other demons if they thought they where going to lose. Trust me I know about it. but other than that I dont know much about 3rd except it sucks so whatever.

in 3rd they can only gate (refered to as "summoning demon") once a day as oppose to once an hour

and if another balor gets gated, then that balor could gate in more demons

and yeah.. elves SHOULD get penalties for life... they suck

For starters, Vorpal requires you to roll a natural 20 to hit. It the thing you're hitting has a head, it's instantly dead. Additionally, while a Balor can summon another Balor, it may only summon one other, and that one may not summon another while it is under the effect of the summons.

I rolled higher on my initiative, having a +8 to whatever I roll (which was a 16). So going first I hit the first Balor with a Finger of Death spell. It rolled a 4 on it's fortitude, and since it would have to roll a total 26 (after initial bonuses and such) to save, it died.

The second one charged me. My pet, a Legendary Eagle, attacked it, while it tried to hit me... and failed miserably. I have an AC of 40. That means in order to hit me, the Balor must roll a 17 or higher... and that's on it's highest attack bonus. It was going to hit me once, but the hit missed due to the 50% miss chance gained fom my Cloak of Displacement.

I hit the second Balor repeatedly with my +5 holy shocking burst scimitar. Seeing as how right from the beginning my saves, stats, and HP were all better than it's own, I easily took it down.
