my only interest in this is that I hear theyre trying to make the playable combat seem similar to the combat seen in ff7AC.
somthing I wanted to do in gaming myself.
but I couldnt figure out a way to do it with out it being either clumsy....or actually just really long over dramatic grapple animations.

No, it really is 1-10, look.
12 probably isnt in there cuzz of its closer relation to vagrant/tactics.
not that 1-10 really have all that much more in common.
are any of the games after 5 Chrystal based?
I'm still trying to figure out the combat.
If its some long drawn out moves, rather than some short attacks and movements that can be performed on the fly, I'm going to be really let down...and slightly happy, as it would mean I could still crack at it myself.
in fact I have a vague idea on how to do it already.
