Playstation HOME!!

My dads got a playstation 3 but only the one game and its no bad, maybe expensive but i still quite nice i cant mind the games name but its the fps with the aliens but set maybe in the WW2 era.
The console i thought looks nice but the game was good tho it takes some getting use to. But graphicly wise real crisp.
But anyways .... this feature what is up coming looks real nice, i've seen some of this stuff before for chat rooms but this is really nice, MMO chat style with Habbo Hotel features.
Anyone hear anything about it?

yeah no doubt.
I've heard that it was like a cross between 360live and the Mii part of Wii.
live with avatars I'm guessing.
the ultimate goal has got to pretty much to find your mates and launch a game.

i just thought it was kinda cool, been able to do a lil more with it, i guess SIMS fans will be happy XD
I just thought it was a different way round it, being able ot watch trailers, chat with ur m8s, stream music and pretty cool customise avtars, Wii has there Mii's but i feel there pretty basic and boring u dont get to do alot really with them and then Xbox Live is pretty much a menu system so its kinda a good mix i thought. Its the first real thing am excited for in the ps3

This is exactly what I said to him.
I said the console is highly likely to be buggy. The games are shit. It costs too much.
He just wants one because he wants one before everyone else. I tried talking him out of it. I may have succeeded. I may not.
but £464 for a 60GB PS3 and two games (choice between Resistance: Fall of Man, Def Jam, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Tennis, NBA and Motorstorm. All of which look incredibly shit) just isn't worth it.

I think the idea in itself is fine actually.
in fact its something Id have liked to have done myself a few years back.
the thing about home to me thats specifically a turn of is that its not a game.
And I know every PR guy for any console ever made likes to say their console is more than a game console. but if that were the truth, their would be no console game industry.
I cant really get behind something as a big driving feature of a game console if it doesn't really have a game focus.
other features might be cool and/or convenient. but at the end of the day you bought a games machine and you'd rather use it to play games.
Sometimes I wonder if Sony has forgotten what a gamer is, and how to satisfy one.
