You need to plug this wireless thing into your PC if you haven't got a wireless network. It's not too expensive. Whether you can get it to work is another matter.

Yep, it takes a few minutes to set up your Wifi on your DS initially, but afterwards it's saved to your DS for every game you play there after. No problems connecting on the spur of a moment to play Metroid of Mario Kart . . . but then again, I didn't set up security or anything on my Wifi network so anybody can get the signal within a certain area, hence why my friend steals it.

You never need to worry about wifi unless you want to play with other people who don't live near you I think. BUt since you got wifi... no worries.

I'm having issues at the moment I wanted to pick up a router and spend sunday hooking it up. Nintendo had a great list of routers and recommendations of what they have found works and doesn't work. But i'm out of black ink. I'll probably end up with the Belkin or the D-link wireless router.

I'm not on dialup i'm on adsl?

Choose Belkin. I hate D-Link now.

An online game, you mean? Not a lot. PictoChat is preloaded onto the DS but I couldn't even get to the wireless settings until we bought an online game. Sneaky.

pictochat is just for short range wi-fi chat between ds consoles not meant for across the net chat like irc and such things

Ah right, I wasn't sure about that. Seems pretty pointless.

On the train in New York we had alot of fun with pictochat.

Hangman was fun. It's only worthwhile if you have friends with one i guess.

...and you don't mind looking a little nerdy.

I remember signing on at the Tokyo Game Show . . joining some random people's rooms . . . which they left soon after. I've never got a chance to use it sadly :(
