No wonder it sounded like FF, then.

What console is this being released on?

The similarities don't end there. This is Hironobu Sakaguchi's first project since he founded Mystwalker (Mistwalker?). You may recall that he, you know, co-founded Squaresoft and created the Final Fantasy series. I believe a lot of the devs that worked on the Chrono games are working for Sakaguchi's new company as well. Hence the irony.

And it's exclusive to the 360, along with Sakaguchi's other current project called Lost Odyssey which looks crappy.

I may look into it, when I get a 360. The graphics didn't look all that spiffy as for it to be a 360 exclusive, though.

I tend to be the last one in on the big thing. I only just bought Jade Empire, yesterday. And Fahrenheit....and The Godfather game (all for the XB)

Some days I think Lost oddessy looks crappy. Some doays I think it looks Great.

im pretty streamlined on Blue Dragon tho.
I hate toriyama with a passion...but atleast he's not Amano.

I have to credit toriyama with having a style that can grab both the juvenile and adult gamer.

Amano gets credit for being just as shitty as picaso.
and im not making a cleaver joke there

Picaso sucked.

...while blind folded and drunk.

anyway...

I just came from watching the first 30 minutes of the game over at Xboxyde.(unfortunaly the video is all in japanese)
http://www.xboxyde.com/news_3873_en.html

I swear its an instant rpg classic.

it feels so genuinely like the good old SNES rpg days.
(abundance of cutscenes included)

The games no graphical powerhouse, but its nice and clean mostly, thats probably because theyre playing up to that old original style. you'll easily see it in the environmental design.

I havent played ff3 on DS, but I'd have to imagine the classic feeling you get from both games is similar. Ben might have to confirm (or deny) that one.

i hate the caracter design, but that's a preference thing. I'd seriously prefer Amano any day, although i might be partial to him simply because i'm a classic FF fanboy...

I haven't gotten the video though, i will eventually, but it's taking forever to download.

Depends on the game. Nomura's usually the guy that does it.

Yeah, one thing that struck me as "ewww" was the character design.

I'm not a fan of Mr. DBZ either, but its not as if it's awful or anything just very repeative but people complain about that in Nomura's work too which I really like.

Amano did mostly the 8 bit games, and a few of the 16 bit ones. Natrually his style didn't show through that dramatically, but unless i'm mistaken, he did all the character design for 1-5, and a good bit of 6.

Anybody who'se seen Vampire Hunter D has seen his work as well, he designed D.

1 on each side of the fence.

I imagine they'll fight each other in one of the final scenes or a re occuring battle.

games been out for 3 days in japan. give it 3 more. I bet the whole thing will be on youtube and have a full faq and a range of dedicated fansites.
