Onimusha 4 (was disappointed without having Samounosuke (sp?) in it, but it's actually turned out to be a sweet RPG/Survival Horror evolution of the genre.

I also just beat the special GBA edition of FF1

Started to play Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap for the GBA (freaking sweet game)

and I've been playing the Japanese version of Mario 64 DS (up to 100 stars now! Friggin sweet!)

You should try and get into it. I think it's a little more challenging than most people are used to, but it really boasts the most polished combat system in any action game ever.

Oh and I picked up Disgaea 2 while in NYC, and I played that a bit.

but when I think about it that might actually go over quite well.
Plays like the sims from what I hear.
