I found a link to this at Penny Arcade, and it's the coolest. It's hard to believe that one person coded it in his spare time.

this game is pretty cool.

give it some time though, it takes a little while for it to pick up, but it's cool.

Hmm, there seems to be a glitch in the latest version that causes it to crash at a certain point. Use version 1.0.0.5 and patch version 1.0

finished it, it's rather short and not insanely difficult, but it was pretty fun

a little on the cheesy side at times

now, i read somewhere there were multiple endings, which i have no idea how to get, and i can't find a walkthrough, but that's fine. I suppose i could change my answers to a couple of questions and just see what happens.

how the hell is this thing a rom?

Hmm. I can't beat the last boss, but I've only tried a few times. I should start that up again.

There are a couple of walkthroughs on a fan site. Just Google for "Doukutsu Monogatari". I traded the polar star for the machine gun and told Kazuma that I wasn't leaving, so that might affect the ending.

Um, there is no way that this thing is a rom, to answer your question. It's a PC game. By the way, it seems that there's a new version of the translation patch, which probably fixes the crash.

heh, i beat it the same exact way you did.

*spoiler*

i know the ending changes if you kill sue during the final battle with the core, other then that i've got no idea, and i know there's at least one more ending. Probably with you leaving on that sky dragon instead of going after the core

*end spoiler*

as far as the final boss battle goes, you NEED the life jar the old lady gives you in the sand zone, so if you used it already, restart. Trust me, you've got to fight 4 bosses in a row (well, one of them takes two forms) so you really really do need the extra life.

i also wonder if there's a way to get version 2.0 of the jetpack. There's a notebook that says Booster was plaining on making one.

Also there's the mini people you have to find, and that weird mushroom that i have no idea what to do with.

Strange shit.

There are two options.

1: Keep playing the game and, after several hours of experimenting, figure out what you're missing and how to get it.

2: Use a walkthrough.

At my advanced age I simply don't have the energy for option one.
