Yeah, to be hoenst, I can see Sony making thier own dual shock syatem up. They went to the trouble of developing UMD discs, its a bit daft not to mkae a dual shock.

They should have sharp blades and spikes that come out of the controller. When the character gets sliced, you get sliced.

So how exactly were they sued for using dual shock? I thought that was just standard on controllers now.

I Think the gist of it is that Dual Shock or rather the technology behind it was invented and patended by a thrid party.

people copied that technology and started using it.
nintendo however uses a differnt kind of tech. so nintendo never had to deal with it.

the inventer i beilve took both microsoft and sony to court over it.
microsoft paid the thrid party to keep using it and aquired a license or somthing.

sony on the other hand became bitchy. and got smacked with a thing where they would have had to either pay microsoft for every product that used the techology....(all controllers, both consoles, and all the games that had the capability)
or either remove all those products off the shelf.

dunno how they got out of it.

but as you can see, the ps3 controller is shockless

I think that might be the reason Sony are being pretty crafty with this PS3. Its out doing the XB360 at the moment in potential.

Nope, until the court of appeal rules they have a 'stay of excution' persay and can trade as normal.

They lost the orginal court case, the fine was $98million dollars and the removal of all dual shock controllers (via recall) and media (47 titles)

when you consider that fact that Microsoft paid for a license $28million and own 10% of the company in the proccess it seems a far better business practise to have settled.
