Theirs no textures yet, the model isn't complete, or even rigged proper.... so no eyes.
hell. I'm really not even solid on the design yet.

The girl is the NPC, and as of a few hours ago. the ground work for her self sustaining behavior is complete.
At current, a key press will have here run through a status check and make her try and resolve any issues.
she even resolves them differently depending on whether or not she's in town even.

However, due to a complete lack of animation, it doesn't look like anything special.
just a character model sliding around from place to place.
I'll make a youtube video when its got some animations applied.

it doesn't take any monetary resources into account though.
Id like it to. but then i really have to justify where the hell money would come from.

Just as I don't want Turkeys and Pies miraculously healing life threatening wounds, I'd rather not have monsters carrying sacks of money and taking care to drop them upon dying.

I thought Red Dead's way of selling meat and skins worked quite well. It's already been done but if you're busy adventuring, how else are you gonna make some dough?

Look at League of Legends, they release and maintain a game for free, selling skins, character models, experience boost and IP (their own currency) boosts.

I'm pretty sure they're in the top five MMO games for earnings and it's not even really an MMO.

in terms of real money? I'm not really thinking on that issue. I'm not even sure this is really a game project for release. more a hobby I'm throwing theory at and seeing how it works out.
I'm talking in terms of having the NPCs carry a wallet and take it into account when buying supplies, and how to get that money in the first place.

At the moment they just get shit for free.

The Red Dead method is great from a player standpoint, and probably good for a the AI as well...
but I don't wanna write that up right now.

Maybe I'll just cop out and have the player either give the AI partner however much money he wants to at any given time. Or maybe just have the AI and the player share a wallet. Even though the AI would only spend money and never make any.

probably a wife joke in there.

Oh, I was way off.

NPC earnings is a narrow field, Loot (be that monster drop or found) or wage/time (FF8).
