How long could you make $1500 last?

Post by Xanien » Wed Apr 15, 2009 12:36 pm

Given your absolutely necessities (food, rent, utilities, etc), how long could you make $1500 last?

And how long could you make $8500 last?

And also, if you have to PAY for your food, rent and utilities, etc, how long could you make each last?

Given those things already? Assuming I didn't buy any computer stuff, which I only get when I can afford it, I could last forever on that. Sad, I know.

Depends on how I feel about my situation.

If I feel like I'm in trouble. I could stretch just $100 to the ends of time.
with $1500 you're being very generous.

But If I feel alright.... it wouldn't last a day.

Theirs just so many free and cheaper options for most things of the same or better quality. for me, money is really only for convenience and avoiding hard work.

Its pretty easy for me to do without and go back into a bare bones lifestyle,
I never really had much coming up, so for me everything that isn't food or rent doesn't even matter, and I can entertain myself with a pencil and some paper.

Yeah, for a few months after I came back from Japan when I had no money, I was living off of about $200 a month. I have a lot of stuff to keep me busy and don't really need to go out and buy new toys left and right. I do search for good deals though when I'm out shopping.

Sucks that I have to pay college loans again starting in April :(

1500 is enough to keep a roof over my head each month. lol thankfully i have a roomate to pay half that. so then there's electric wich runs about 300, so that brings the total cost to 1050, then there's water wich is always 140, so 1190, then the car loan and insurance so that brings my total to 1790 in just paying bills each month. I usually spend no more than about 400$ a month in food expenses, so we'll say that total brings us to about $2,200.00.

with only spending bare minimum, i'd go into debt quick as shit with only 1500. Thankfully i bring home just about $3.0K after taxes each month; and when i get promoted this year, that should be going to about $3.4K each month. 8,500. could last me about 2 an a half months though.

$1,500.00 = £1,004.36

Thanks for xe.com for the maths there, hehe.

Anyway, I was part of a "save as you earn" scheme at my work place (kind of like shares). I was saving about £40 per year which came out of my salary into my funds. When I left on maternity leave, I couldn't afford to keep saving that amount per month. However, Equinty (which runs the scheme) gave me a nice check for £1250. Okay that's more than $1500 (and the exchange rate changes all the time). But I'm suprised it lasted that long, with it we bought a computer and a cotbed for Cassie (both weren't expensive). That bought it down to about £500. The money I had now is gone, new furni saw to that, which am still paying off for.

One thing is for sure, if Ed and I didn't have tax creds, we'd be screwed. We don't buy alot of things like we used to, but when we do it goes on Cassie. To me she's worth that money.

When a child is your own flesh and blood money shouldn't be a question. I would rather Dibs had a new pair of shoes that me having a hot meal for a day if it came to it.

Doesn't Flesh and Blood Money sound like an awesome sexy crime drama?

Especially considering a child somehow comes into play.

Oh god i know Dani. I can't believe the price in baby shoes sometimes, but there excellent quality (Clarks). My Mum has terrible feet due to ill fitting shoes (due to my fucking Nana of a witch), so I vouch that Cassie won't be that bad. She loves her shoes.

Johnny, why aren't I suprised you made that remark? Lol!

so i thought that means that monthly expenses aren't to be figured without those ones... ? if that's not the case than im quite confused, but in that case i can live on 1,500 for about 4 an a half months.
