I'm SOOOOOO freaking pissed that the site I've been using since I came to Japan is closing down on June 30th. So I have about 2000+ pictures that I have to load up all over again onto a new website. So I beg of you to tell me about some good picture sharing websites, and if there are a lot of users out there using it (so there's no possibility of it shutting down after I put all my pictures up on there).

So how are websites like Flickr? Can you tell me the pro's and cons about the places you use or have been to?

I know a good few ppl who use Flickr, I myself just use photobucket. Been using it for a good few years. Havent had any problems with it. And I know ppl who use it and am sure its not gonna close down. I know it was quite popular choice when i went out lookin for a picture host.

Not sure on the pro and cons ur lookin for tho m8. Hmm spec wise for free users are

Storage space 1GB
Image size 1024x768
Traffic bandwidth 25GB/month
Slideshow images Up to 30
Video length Up to 5 mins
Password-protection for individual sub-albums
Support for standard file types

Its gotten better through out the years lol i remember only gettin 300megs and either only a gig or 2 gigs bandwidith so my old forum use to be covered in bandwidith notices lol.

Theres a pro edition which is pretty much bigger and better (as always) for $3 pm or £25 pyear. But the free does me. Am sure Steph on here uses about 2 to 3 accounts lol

I got Marna to just chuck her stuff onto Aura's server space but she didn't like that so she eventually got herself a Photobucket account. I find it slow and irritating. We've just been given a new camera and have tons of wedding photos to show people so yesterday I decided to install Gallery on the Aura server under http://photos.aura-online.co.uk. So far, I've put the honeymoon photos up and I'm really impressed. Marna and I will use this from now on. This probably isn't the option for you though since you need some web hosting with PHP capability. Just thought I'd mention it.

I think Apple offers something as well. Maybe I'll look into that as well.

Yes loads, now you believe me! I even have a sub album in there of my mini-me. I like my photobucket account it does me, but it's not for everyone and it depends on what shit ya got.

I don't know why anyone would bother with photobucket. Webshots and Flickr are much better and faster. The thing that annoys me is that a lot of people are starting to use Facebook exclusively to host pics, but Facebook only puts up really low-res photos.

Facebook annoys me full-stop, nevermind the low-res pics! I've never tried Webshots or Flickr, but I might see what these are like. But I've always used phtotobucket and it's good for me.

Hah. Well, don't bother... I'll catch it. I check all new sigs. I actually wanted to go 150 pixels tall, but Draggy wouldn't have it. Now I want to cut down avatars; tons of avatars just dwarf people's posts.

You should know better than to tell me something like 'dont bother'

only thing preventing it is the current lack of photoshop.
otherwise id have done it by now.

... No, I just right-click the pics, select "Properties," and look at the image dimensions.

If they annoy me, I usually say something. I'm on 1280x1024 so they have to be pretty big to bother me now. Squirrel's is almost too big. Xanien's is about the same. Squirrel should put the two images side by side. I don't think Xanien can put his text beside the image without HTML.
