I like military bases.

They still tax a soldier's income though. The government pays their man and then takes a percentage. How's that for federal thinking?

By the way, prices in Seattle are a bit high too. This is the land of the yuppie but I do okay. At least our sales tax is only nine percent.

That happens in the UK military as well as the police force, I always found it daft.

17.5% Value added tax in the UK and 20% tax in the Republic of Ireland (but your talking funny money then)

same here. I get my pay from the state (aka, state taxes) and i still have to pay state tax on it.

and yeah, our taxing system is very very strange. To make it worse, it's very different from state to state, sometimes to a pretty big degree. There's some states with no sales tax at all.
